i just found this site last night, so i registered and started posting immediately. i have 6 months of deployment left, so i'm glad i found a new way to pass the time and keep me in a roo state of mind year round.
so karma to everyone for giving a bone-weary, homesick sailor a reason to smile

Nope - and I doubt we would - I mean - the older one is "educated" somewhat - but for us - that is "our" little slice of paradise and I have no desire to share it with the kids - selfish - I know - I love my girls - but I have so few things that are mine and mine alone - Bonnaroo is one of them and I think it will stay that way
I can't say too much on this issue cause I don't have kids, but I can imagine if I did have kids I'd feel the exact same way... until they got to around 20-somethin... then it might be fun to share the experience with them. who knows
When I have kids, if I have kids, they will eventually be welcome to come to Bonnaroo or a similar fest. I would rather it be a situation where they're old enough that they go with friends, and I'm there in case they need me but with my own friends.
I've seen way too many parents who don't really give a crap about the experience their kids have, they just want to see what they want to see and the kids are along for the ride. No offense to the parents who do the right thing and make the kids the priority when going to roo, because I have seen a few of those, but I have seen quite a few parents who dont.
i think the roo would be a cool experience for kids, but if i had any, i think it'd be hard to be sensitive to what they wanted to do without sacrificing some of the things i'd want to do. the crowds, the heat, the noise...these things would be pretty overwhelming for the little ones. so when i finally do have one or two of my own, i think this'll be one of those "mommy and daddy are going on a trip - we'll be back in a few days" kinda things until they're old enough to take care of themselves and have things they want to do without me. but it'd definitely be cool later on in life to bump into your teenage kids rocking out to the same show as you.
can you imagine being a 4 year old and getting separated from your parents there? that would suck for all parties involved

as much as i'd love for my daughter to go to bonnaroo, i definitely like to have the time to myself AND it's not always the best environment for a small child imo. the heat, the weather, the drunks and the shady peeps...if it was just one day i could do it, but having her out there for 3 days would be way too much and i think she'd tire of it. i do plan on including her in some smaller day festies soon, though.
ya know - I bet the guests don't make it down here to The Other Tent very often - we might scare them a little, ya think?
Us? Scary? Nah........ Why would anyone be afraid of a bunch of sarcastic a$$holes with nothing better to do than chat about random nothingness and drunken ramblings?
You know you all want to join us. Come on..... it'll be fun. Just try it. Hey..... everyone else is doing it. You don't want to be left out, do you? Come on....register...... try one post....see if you like it. Trust me.
I just don;t understand - I mean I know I am the one that said we prolly scare them - but after all - we are just one big happy family, huh? There are always crazy people in a family - ya know - the ones noone talks about
three word is where it's at - I actually found this place before the 2006 'roo and would have been totally lost without it - I would never have survived my first 'roo without all the advice I got from here

Me too... me too... I forget what account name was me then, but I was excited, but a little nervous going alone, put an ad up on craigslist to try to find a copilot... and this chick Wendy answered, and told me about the soloroo community here... and the rest is history... in 2006 though... this place served as a purely informational place... I liked 2007 MUCH better, and I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO looking forward to the rest of 2008, here, and EVERYWHERE!!! ... you have no idea!!! ;D
