I've been playing the drums for almost 31 years (got my first snare drum Christmas 1982) and in all that time my father has NEVER seen me play a gig outside of school marching/Symphonic band. It's not that he's disinterested but there's always been a problem of time and space (Carrollton, where he lives, is a good 1.5 hours from any place I play in Atlanta and it's extremely rare that I'm on before 11pm). Saturday we have a show booked in Carrollton GA, the same teeny tiny town my dad lives in that will probably start around 10pm. Perfect opportunity! A couple of days ago I talked with him and he was excited to finally come out and see me play and I was really really looking forward to it. Super excited really! I'm pretty good, not trying toot my own horn but you don't seriously study an instrument for over a quarter century and still suck at it! He has no idea, when he thinks of me playing he probably still thinks about my god awful garage thrash metal band I had in High School, so in my dreamy little dream he'd be thinking to himself "Holy shiz! That's my son and he's killing it up there!"
Today I get a txt from him apologizing that he's not gonna be there because he's gonna be in Nashville until Sunday. quacking bummer man. It'll still be a great show, I love playing small towns where the people have nothing better to do but go see whoever is playing at their local live music spot, but having my dad there to see me for the first time was going to be special. Bums me out.
Posted this in the GRRRRR thread and now I have to take it back. Dad just texted me he's on his way back to Carrollton and will be attending. Sweet!
Just found out that Silvertide reunited earlier this year. I learned about them and saw them twice on their last tour 6 years ago. Super excited that they reformed!

Man. Wish I wouldn't have left his set early now. I just really wasn't digging it, but apparently the second half killed.
This tour has basically had Jim playing Regions of Light in entirely starting his set. And then after that goes into other stuff.
Which considering this is Louisville, where he's usually playing at a 12 out of 10 ... you don't miss anything. It's what dragged me to Kentucky last year.

I just don't like Regions of Light I guess. I've given it plenty of chances, the album and live. I'll take MMJ over it any day. But also considering its Louisville and he and I both live here I get plenty of chances to catch him! Very thankful for that.

And play sax with him, if I remember correctly?? You lucky bastard

Yep. Basically the most amazing night of my life. Plus the other day I saw him at my favorite sushi restaraunt. Turns out it's his favorite place too.

Can a chick have a man-crush on two amazing dudes with a man-crush going on?
Ahhh yes. The infamous "tri-crush". Only seen it once in my life; it did not end well.
I'm harmless. My heart belongs to Quacker but he does not mind when I have crushes. It's a win win kinda thing. OH wait... hope Billy Pilgrim is not reading. He's my #1 crush just to be clear! Do not want him to think i'm mentally cheating.

Good luck finding him, I hear Billy Pilgrim has come unstuck in time.
