Yay! I went to EMS today to buy some last minute essentials for Bonnaroo (Sigg bottle, tent sealant, wide-brimmed hat, and a few other things). I got to the checkout line, and without saying a word about what it was for, the guy said "you wouldn't happen to be going to a music festival down in Tennessee next week, would you?" Apparently, I was his seventh customer that day who was going to Bonnaroo, including a guy who had left the store just a minute earlier. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, just thinking that I leave for Tennessee in just three short days.

Yay, Josh is coming home tonight! He was planning to stay until tomorrow (plus, he was wedged into his campsite, so he didn't think he'd be able to leave until then, but he said people were already leaving in droves by this morning), but now he said he's going to break down his tent and stuff after Brian Posehn and head back whenever it's clear enough! I've enjoyed my weekend to myself, but I'm really looking forward to having him back home!

^^What's his overall feeling of the Roo this year? It seems like from most of your reports of him he's having a good time. Better than last year, perhaps?
Post by NothingButFlowers on Jun 15, 2008 12:21:25 GMT -5
Definitely better than last year! It sounds like there have been ups and downs, but overall it does sound like he's had a really good time.
Other than Thursday night, he hasn't said anything about the lines into Centeroo being too bad (although I think he pretty much goes in and stays in all day). He was pretty pissed when they took his food at the gates, but I don't think he's had any other real problems with the people running it. It sounds like he's been really pleased with the shows he's seen. I know he really enjoyed Les, Willie, the Superjam (especially this), Gogol Bordello (although he said the crowd was pretty much full of assholes), and ZPZ.
When I talked to him last night, his feet hurt and he sounded utterly exhausted, but that's just part of Roo! All in all, I think it's been a really good experience.

Sounds like an overall good time then! Glad to know that your free ticket you won him was fully enjoyed. It'd be kind of a shame if he went and it was another crapshoot year for him...
You should urge him to come back to the boards since he attended the Roo afterall. I miss his sarcastic remarks and enlightening insight on a few topics. Plus, everytime he mentioned a jazz record I often wrote it down because he seems to have a pretty good grasp on solid jazz

Yay! I'm about to go home now, and I'm off tomorrow for a long weekend! Plus, I'm only working Monday, Tuesday, and a half day Wednesday, and I get an even longer weekend next week!
YAY! I was all depressed about Roo being over, but these came in the mail today. I need more than one festival to look forward to. Bonnaroo will always be my favorite.
Yay for Brandon the young man that reminds me every day that I have done something good with my life. He is Humble, Good Looking, Has a huge heart. I love my son dearly.

Yay for 4th of July TV marathons! You know what's great? Watching old episodes of a show that used to be good and then got bad . . . cuz it reminds you of why you started watching the show in the first place. They are doing a marathon of That 70's Show, and the episode where they find a keg of beer is on, and it is so funny! Back when Kitty smoked cigarettes; before Eric did Roller Disco and Jackie worked for Mary Tyler Moore. (Apparently, also before Brooke Shields was Jackie's mother.)
Also, yay for 4th of July wine at 1 in the afternoon!

Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! She had all the tattoos and the piercings Hates everything says everybody's wrong She dressed like she slept with Guns and Roses But I busted her singing all the boy band songs
She had to go simply because and I let her go like she never was cause I didn't know and I don't care what she does she had to go cause she didn't know who Joe Strummer was Hey!
At night when we stood in line for hours waiting to see my favorite punk rock band I played with the passion and the power but she's only there for all the fashion trends with her clueless friends
She had to go, she had to go simply because, simply because, and I let her go, I let her go like she never was, like she never was cause I didn't know, cause I didn't know and I don't care what she does, simply because, she had to go cause she didn't know who Joe Strummer was, Joe Strummer was, Joe Strummer was
She started talkin' bout me and my life but why would I wanna be with someone who doesn’t know the Clash save my life Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Go!
It's not that she didn't rock my casaba it's not that I couldn't burn her London down, it's just that she kept on disappearing whenever the Sandanestas came to town and burned it down
She had to go, she had to go simply because, simply because, and I let her go, I let her go like she never was, like she never was cause I didn't know, cause I didn't know and I don't care what she does, simply because, she had to go cause she didn't know who Joe Strummer was, Joe Strummer was, Joe Strummer was, Joe Strummer was, Joe Strummer was, Joe Strummer was, Joe Strummer was, Joe Strummer was
She had to go, (she don't know) she had to go, (she don't know) she had to go, (she don't know) she had to go (she don't know) Go! Hey! Hey! Hey!
He's in love with rock'n'roll woaahh He's in love with gettin' stoned woaahh He's in love with Janie Jones But he don't like his boring job, no...
An' he knows what he's got to do So he knows he's gonna have fun with you You lucky lady! An' he knows when the evening comes When his job is done he'll be over in his car for you [ Lyrics accessible from www.rare-lyrics.com ]
An' in the in-tray lots of work But the boss at the firm always thinks he shirks But he's just like everyone, he's got a Ford Cortina That just won't run without fuel Fill her up, Jacko!
An' the invoice it don't quite fit, There's no payola in his alphabetical file This time he's gonna really tell the boss Gonna really let him know exactly how he feels It's pretty bad!
