My year just got $600 more FUN ... so first I'll get my regular tax refund... and then, just about when that runs out, I'll get Refund#B!!! ... maybe just in time for Bonnaroo!!!
Thanks George, awesome... now comeon, hurry up, and get the fu*k out...
(whoa... sorry, ... Lord Rock+Politics ... won't let that happen again)
My refund money is what fuels my roo experience so I'm stoked to see it kicked up. One must wonder where this money comes from. Schools is my state are no good and people can't afford to get proper medical attention. Either way I'm sure I could do more good than the assclowns who are running things.
Do all you guys talking about w2s and owing money ever read the news?
This isn't about your income taxes...everyone (well almost everyone) is getting a few hundred bucks...it's our (now $600 less of an) a$$hole president's plan to stimulate the economy.

i was just stating that i didn't even get my w2 yet, because everyone else was stating how they are or are not getting a tax refund. i didn't intend it to be bonus money related.
Look, I'm no expert on economics though it was my major for a semester and a half before I changed it to a double major in Philosophy and Ceramics(I think they mesh well) but pumping imaginary money into the economy only creates short term growth and long term inflation. Idiots. Just give everyone like a blockbuster giftcard and a handwritten apology for the disasterous past 8 years and call it even.

Savings rates have never been lower and they want to encourage people to spend more. China will own us in $20 years.

yeah i read the news... but it was a thread about taxes and I felt the need to express HOW I HATE THE FACT THAT I OWE MONEY
I'm really glad the Dems made the tax rebate for almost everyone. Bush's idea was to tie it to income tax so poorer people didn't get any. He seems to forgat the the poor pay lots of taxes in payroll tax, excise tax, FCC tax, gas tax, cig tax, liquor tax, and countless others. I think everyone that pays any tax to the Fed gov't should get a rebate.
I'm also glad it's not another child tax credit only as I have no kids and seem to get punished for it.. I am glad that added extra rebates for children to the base rebate though.
As for it's effect, it will be temporary at best and we'll have to pay for it in the long run. But at least it's a tax cut targetted to the middle class.
Question: Is this an actual rebate or is this another advance on next years return (meaning they will deduct the rebate from next years return)? Anyone know for sure?

1st - while I am also glad that he made it for virtually everybody - I also have issues with poorer people that are currently already getting government aid getting a rebate check. My tax dollars fund their life (because - the majority - NOT ALL - of them refuse to get off their a$$ and do anything about improving their lives)
2nd - I am not sure how the rebates will affect the tax issue - my understanding is that these will be treated as income and we will have to declare them as income on 2008 taxes and then pay additional taxes on the money because they gave it to us
