I almost just shit a brick... I know this is stupid, but I'm kind of ignorant with computers... I can put them together and understand how programs work, but I have no idea or either don't care about how to take care of your hardware.
I leave my comp on overnight, because I use allot of Ratio driven torrent sites, and I am also one of those people who like to leave music/tv/movies on to help me fall asleep. So I woke up this morning, a video is running, nothing different about that, but I go to my comp and it's completely frozen. So I turn off my comp and try to turn it back on.
My comp's fans go into overdrive and the "check monitor signal" thing comes up on my monitor. Oh, shit. My under a year old comp just went cap put. So I open it up, and, oh my God, I've never seen as much dust and cat hair and dog hair in anything in my life. Also, it's WET in the bottom, like moist.
I try again, does the same thing; message on the monitor, fans in overdrive.
So I unconnect all the stuff in my comp and give it a good wiping, and get all that nasty shit out of there. Then I let it sit unplugged for an hour, turn it on, and it works....
How am I supposed to keep hair and dust and shit to keep from getting in my computer?
^^^keep those fur balls away from your puter room. Shut the door because the computer fans will suck in that hair. Open up your puter once a year and give it a good vacum
Ok, much thanks for the tips, Druid... I'm also considering getting one of those air purifier thingies... dunno how well they work, but we'll see.
One thing you can do is buy a small filter and put it at the air intake on your computer, but make sure you clean it once a week or so, or you will overheat again.
Sorry for the double post, but what did you think, Hippie? Worth your time and money? I'd have to say "most definitely" to the show that I went to last week.
