i paid an extra $30 for my bridesmaid dress back in february to have it be rush ordered and shipped to my house here in austin by today at the LATEST(that's what the store told us).
i called the store today, and the dress isn't even getting to THEIR store until thursday, which means, i won't be getting it til next week.
the girl so graciously offered to overnight it for an additional cost and she couldn't even tell me whether my $30 would be refunded to me. WTF?!
i can already tell weddings are way more of a hassle than necessary. i'm all over the vegas wedding.
I'm getting married on the beach, with simple dresses and simple flowers (who needs a lot of flowers when you have the freakin' ocean behind you?) and then just having a huge party for my reception. I'm all about simplicity.

i feel ya bama!!
my dad used to half-way joke with me that he would pay for everything if i got married in vegas. i used to tell him that it wasn't going to happen, but now i think i might just take him up on it. you've got the hotel, the location, and the after-party all at the same place.

i'd be satisfied with a small courthouse wedding, but my parents have banned me from it. Both my brother and sister were married at the courthouse, so i'm my parents last hope to see a child have an actual ceremony.
by the way, Hippie, do you have the receipt that shows that you paid the extra $30 for the dress to get to you by today? If they didn't refund it, you having that receipt could possibly cause them some trouble
Post by GratefulHippie on Apr 8, 2008 13:44:37 GMT -5
oh yes...i have the receipt. they aren't doubting i paid it, its just a question as to whether or not they will actually refund it. she said she had to "speak to her district".
what's weird is that my best friend, who is also a bridesmaid, ordered hers 2 or 3 days after the rest of us, and she's already got hers!! and she lives in NYC!!!
Can we also talk about how I'm 22 and all my HS classmates are getting engaged/married? It depresses me!!! I mean I know I'm from a small town, but seriously!
I mean, my little brother, who is a JUNIOR in high school, has a friend who is engaged. It freaks me out!
k so i work at a bridal salon... and have for the last 6 years. i know how those things work. did you order this BM dress from a small shop? or somewhere like david's bridal? and do you happen to know who the designer of the dress is? hahaha i can tell u if the shop is lying. and whether it is the designer's fault or the store's fault. lol

uh, what? does alabama have some weirdo "you can get married before puberty" laws?? ???
Actually, they do. And it is extremely weird. We didn't have anybody get married in high school but I knew a lot of girls who were engaged.
It's so weird to go through my yearbook and be like, "She's married...she's married...she had a baby...she's married.." etc etc etc. Although it does cheer me up sometimes...haha!

we ordered the dresses on 02/02/08 from alfred angelo's. we were told that if we had it rushed delivered to us, that it would be here no later than april 8th(today).
one of the bridesmaids lives in NYC, so she wasn't able to come with us to pick them out. the store told us she had to order the dress by feb. 6 or 8(can't remember exactly), or she wouldn't get it in time for the wedding because they shut down their factories for 3 weeks for chinese new year(made me feel SOOOO good about buying the dress ).
but the girl in NYC got her dress a good week or more ago, and mine hasn't even arrived in THEIR store(she said she tracked it) for them to be able to send it on to me.
did the girl from NYC order from the same store as you? or did u guys just tell her the style number and color and seh ordered it in NYC?
usually dresses take about 3 months to come in. so if they told u feb., then its correct they should have charged u a rush. the thing is, if the girl from NYC got hers from another store, it makes sense she got it first cause only 1 was ordered. whereas, with you, you guys are waiting for more than one dress.
sucks real bad, but, honestly, alfred angelo is one of the worst designers of all time. our store used to carry them for about 3 years and we finally dropped them cause they are really bad with getting things in on time. so, its def. not the stores fault, its AA's fault.
that really sucks. but usually things work out if the store pushes enough to get the dresses in on time. what sucks even more is that store is going to charge you for all these rushes. its not ur mistake and you should tell them you aren't going to pay for it.
If they collected money for a service they didn't provide (rush delivery by today), you are entitled to a refund. Period. It's irrelevant who is at fault.

nope...the girl in NYC looked online for the style she wanted, called it into the same store we got ours from, and she got hers about 10 days ago or more.
the rush fee was a non-issue until now. i was happy to pay it to ensure it would get to me by today, and it didn't. plain and simple. as sassbox stated, i paid for a service that wasn't provided, and i am indeed entitled to a refund. i am also not going to pay an overnight fee for them to ship it to me. so they can either pay to have it overnighted to me at no cost, or give me a major sort of discount on my alterations. they can decide. i don't mind going to their corporate offices about this either if it comes to that.
they're supposed to "call me" me tomorrow, but we'll see if that happens. the next time i call, though, i'm asking for a manager immediately. i'm not dealing with associates who have no pull as to whether or not i get my money back. as it was, i had to call back today 4 hours after she said she'd look up the tracking number and call me back.
i do appreciate the help, though, sadie. the only reason we went to AA was because the bride got her dress there, so we got a $25 discount.
A colleague of mine offered his daughter $10,000 to forgo the big wedding and head off to Vegas. She broke down into tears and didn't forgive him for weeks. And he paid up for the big wedding.

That sounds like a little brat to me....
I'd be thrilled with $10,000 to spend on a wedding.

you're welcome. def. call first thing tomorrow. don't mess around with people who don't understand your situation... go straight to the manager. and def. demand they pay for shipping and tell them you want a discount on alterations. believe me, they will do it. obviously when you talk to a manager they're able to make decisions without having to check with someone first... so its better to just talk to them directly. its their mistake... and its more frustration you dont need.

sounds like a good deal to me. i'd def. go for that!
^^^I would have gone for $10,000 in a heartbeat - Boz and I had the whole wedding deal because it was his first marriage and I know his mom wanted to see him get married - we were all for running off somewhere and egtting married.

That's what I would want for mine. My friends got married last week and that's exactly how it was. The ceremony was right on the beach, about 15 feet from the water. The reception was in a big gazebo on the beach. Tropical drinks, bare feet, and a limbo stick.

The beach is the best. This is my son & Amy's wedding last fall. The little guy with the starfish is my grandson, Mason. Any wedding that does not involve wearing a suit is fine by me...

This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo
