Hey i went last year and decided not to go this year cause some of my more favorite bands wernt there dmb, Jack Johnson, Govt Muel. Security was really really really laid back how was it this year for anyone who went? just curious..
It was great!! I left Sunday afternoon, due to being exhausted, and missing my family. But 3 days was enough. No rain...no security problems what so ever...only got patted down once going into Centeroo. Radiohead was amazing, oysterhead as well! ROOOO!

Yeah well I have no idea which Bonnaroo that guy attended, because especially Thursday and Friday security was oppressive. Getting into Centeroo on those days involved long lines and long waits in the unrelenting heat. Later in the day on Friday they loosened up a bit, and it was also looser on Saturday. But most of the first two days, forget it.
Among the several reasons my first Bonnaroo will also be my last Bonnaroo.
I will, when I have gathered my thoughts, post at length on all of my reasons.
oppressive, well you must have just got in at the wrong times....Thursday when we went to centroo there was 0 line and nobody patted us down, or even looked at us, I carried in a backpack with beer and other things without anyone even looking at me.....Friday there was a HUGE crowd to get into centeroo, but It was taking so long and there was so many people that they finally just gave up searching everyone and let us all in with 0 hassle again...and Saturday was the only time I ever had to open my backpack that was with me all 4-5 times of going to centeroo, and they still didn't open my mini coolie bags with water and beer in them. Didn't seem bad at all.
Wakarusa spooked a lot of the smart heads, but apparently not the shady folk, they were very numerous. There was an increased security presence overall, but not overwhelming.
The staff was extremely nice on the way in (got there Wed night) but seemed to be getting more pissy as the weekend went on.
My throat is fucked up from terrible weed and the dust cloud, glad to be home more than any other Bonnaroo.
I am about 60% not going next year, 40% going...it will depend on the music.

yeah, i mean. we didn't experience any trouble with the "police". one time a cop walked up to this little crowd of people i was in and there was a line for this guy with a butter tub full of opium, and a scale on the boardwalk. the horse cops just came up and said " move it along guys"... and they for sure knew what was up. i also saw some other interesting shit... this HUGE guy came up to a fellow rooer and he told him that he shouldn't squirt people with the water gun... and i thought that was a rediculous request, then the rooer proceded to squirt the guy, and the guy broke the water gun and threatened him... the huge guy turned out to be a UC, and told the rooer that people were getting dosed through the water guns so he had to stop. it was kind of an intense moment.
i definitely wore myself out this weekend too... i came home and i slept last night and im not feeling so hot today. my throat is a little fucked up, but we weren't smoking shitty weed. i think it was just all the drugs and the heat, and the lack of sleep, and nutrition, and all the cigarettes, and all the walking and all that stuff that is making me feel bad. i hope im not sick for long!

I hate to say it since it will likely only invite scorn: VIP security was non-existent. I constantly brought whatever I wanted to directly into Centeroo, our truck/camper didn't even get looked at and I never even was touched by a staffer.
That said, I did hear of an RV getting boarded and bottles taken in a random search, but that was the worst.
Yes, the heat was bad- but not uncommon at all for Roo (rain Sunday night was a nice refresher). Then again, having a camper to recharge your human batteries in helped pull all-nighters.
Nights were cool and pleasant.
Music was absolutely amazing. And with 80,000 people there, I still ended up with more than a dozen autographs, three setlists and tons of front-rail pictures.
There was no checking of luggage from the shuttle into the campgrounds, so that was cool my (ultra important) Margaritas got in! Security was random to get into centeroo for me... some days they examined everything, and one day they took my pipe (but not what goes in it!! woohoo) and they never looked twice at my full camelback, so I was happy - can't complain
To try to account for the differences in peoples opinions about getting into centeroo: There was a side entrance kinda between tent-only and pod 6 that *never* had a line longer than five people. I'd often walk past the main entrances that were always annoyingly to astoundingly long, and breezed in through that other entrance. I usually got patted down, enough that I was surprised each time it didn't happen,.
