There is a program called xld tmkk.hp.infoseek.co.jp/xld/index_e.html that will allow you to convert straight from flac to apple lossless if you are concerned with quality (says it will play them too but i have not tried this). It's a bit slow on my machine but i'm guessing that's the fault of my machine (g3 ibook)

I use Acquisition for Mac to download all my music. Between me and my roommate we have over 10500 songs on our combined library. roughly 54+ gigs of music. We have downloaded at least 80% of it through acquisition, and have a 300 gig hard drive full of music and movies that we have mainly gotten through acquistition. Acquisition is a combined network of kazaa bearshare limewire and a bunch of other programs. I have not had it registered, so it does have a pop up window frequently, but its worth every penny of free. For an example of my library, I have 202 Bjork songs. Macs are the greatest computers ever.
