I may be dating myself a little with this one (born in '82), but growing up, we got cable television around 1986, and there was a show called "Something Special." It may have sucked. It really can't recall that well because I was so young, but I remeber watching it EVERYDAY! I have been looking around the net but can't seem to find any of the episodes. Also, there used to be a mini-show that was played in between regular shows that featured a stop-motion glass cup (I believe there was a cowboy on the cup) that went around the kitchen interacting with other utencils. If anyone knows where to grab it online, link it up brothers! I stopped watching around the time of Clarissa and Are You Afraid of the Dark. My little brother was getting into Nickelodeon around that time, but my interest in rock music was begining to manifest itself. New obsessions arose!
my friends dad has the same picture you have as your avcatar on his wall and i think its the funniest thing ever. karma for you and your love of bathroom paraphernalia
Thank you for the kind gesture. The picture is of a urinal submitted to a surrealist art exibition by Mr. Marcel Duchamp in the early 1900's. It was the "begining" of an art movement called dada: a movement that tried to destroy all conceptions of art by destroying the meaning of it itself. The concept facinates me. In the mind of "dada-ists," the only reason that art was qualified as so, was because of how the observer interpretated it. If you think a work of art is crap - the picture implies - than it is. The group of artists who worked in the name of dada (including the infamous Man Ray), did so in order to stir up the scene, cause controversy, and change the perception of what art could be. It paved the way for success for those such as Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollack.
"All in all, the creative act is not performed by the artist alone.. the spectator brings the work in contact with the external world by deciphering and interpreting its inner qualifications and thus adds his contribution to the creative act." -- Marcel Duchamp
One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain. So hit me with music. Hit me with music, now, yeah. Hit me with music. Brutalize me with music.
It's a torrent site but the filters are awsome. Lots of old nickelodeon as well as comedy central, MST3K, Space Ghost and such. You do have to register first though, but it's the easiest place to find alot of rare stuff and the other members on the site seed pretty well.
If anyone goes to this site and needs Any old nick stuff, I have most all of it and if you will PM me on inforoo, I will seed it for you off the myspleen tracker.
Finally somene else remembers Round House... I have all the original commercial VHS tapes of Snick blocks, each with an episode of Round House, Clarissa, Ren & Stimpy, and AYAOTD. I'm in the process of looking for my Digital Video converter software, so I can upload them.

New Year 2008, Nickelodeon Gas will be permanently taken off of the air and turned into an online only property. Now either this means that archived shows will be accessible now, or it's dead. No more classic Nick, whatsoever.
anyone remember the bill cosby skit iin between shows with the bumble bee pen. I was addicted to the sounds of those....do do do dod do do do....
That was Picture Pages (Picture pages, picture pages, time to get your picture pages, time to get your crayons and your pencil. . .)!!! I sent off for the workbook and the pen once, but I don't think it ever came (or maybe my parents just told me they were sending for it, and they never did. . . sneaky parents).
Edit: I'm not going to be able to get that song out of my head now!

This thread is making me feel so nostalgic! I know you can find these treasured shows and cartoons scattered throughout the net, but I still miss turning on Nickelodeon and watching Salute Your Shorts.. now if I happen to skim through Nickelodeon its mostly slap stick, bad acting shows and crummy cartoons.. is it just me or was Nick REALLY cooler back in the day? Like, it was okay for older teens and young adults to watch?
