5th Roo, 2nd year in the VIP. Overall, a great experience and will never do GA again. Complaints this year, and only a few:
* They packed in the cars way too much. And there was TONS of leftover space all weekend. Last year we had room to stretch. I won't say it's as bad as the GA, but it's getting close if this is the direction they are headed.
* Food....quality similar to last year, but QUANTITY was HORRIBLE. How do you run out of tots by 12:30 when you only start serving at 12:00? I mean come on. Cookies and chips were basically gone by Friday afternoon. Ice Cream was gone by Friday night. Catering staff was often rude at times when asking questions (what are you serving? will you have any more of...? etc). There was one lady that was there all Thursday and Friday that was very nice, but the rest were often rude. ANd honestly, what is wrong with just having plain vegies??? Why make them in to all these concoctions? Just give me some brocolli spears or something.
* Potties weren't opened till late Thursday. Showers too. Did you not expect folks to need to pee or poop or take a shower after setting up their sites in the hot TN sun????
It did timejump! It is interesting to see some of the gripes from back then for VIP, compared to how it is now. One thing of note the original poster definitly got right was the attendants at the VIP bathrooms. These people do a bang up job of keeping a positive attitude (despite their job), and making sure everything is clean. This is my second year in a row going VIP, and sixth overall in a row for the festival; and I want to remind you first timers in VIP, that if you can afford 1600.00 for two tickets, these are the guys to tip at the end of the weekend. I've seen a lot of forum posts over the years (here and elsewhere) on when tipping is appropriate, and I will tell you these guys don't ask for tips, but they sure as hell deserve it for making a better Bonnaroo for all of us.
Spread the good vibe, and I'll step off my soap box now
