Idioteque ( John ) Finchdaddy here( Adam ) staying in the VIP section for my first Roo. Look me up. Going to my second Lolla in a row. Last year was great.
I'm going this year. I'm actually a regular over at the Lollapalooza message board... I'm goin' to Roo too.
I'm hoping to help myself out with conflicts by seeing some bands like Cold War Kids, Annuals, and Kings of Leon and the like at Roo so I can see all of the bands that I want to this summer... I actually love the majority of the bands at Lollapalooza this year.

Lollapalooza schedule is released tomorrow. For those of you going to Roo and Lolla, this is a perfect time to figure out what you can wait to see at Lolla or vice versa. I'll be evaluating my options for sure.

So, what do you all think of the schedule?
I dunno about Muse vs. Interpol for headlining on Saturday, I don't really care for either of those bands too much? I would gladly take any recommendations.
Or even better yet, I'm still hoping for after-Lolla moe. show!

This is hard for me to get out. I think Lollapalooza was the festival of the summer for me. Just an absolutely tremendous weekend of shows. I am now on the "Pearl Jam can headline Bonnaroo anytime bandwagon" My Morning Jacket was again as sonically enlightening as ever (See the band's closing cover of Curtis Mayfield's "Keep On Pushing" with the Chicago Children's Symphony as the sun set on Grant Park), and I couldn't help but hear the squeals of joy from the previously unchristened new fans everywhere. The Hold Steady: mind-blowing set. Daft Punk and LCD Soundsystem: Late Night Bonnaroo 2008? Wow. I could go on for a while about all the great shows I saw. Just...what a weekend.

absolutely... Daft Punk alone - i really wish i could make the nyc show on thursday. that show was easily in the top 5 most fun and enjoyable music experiences i've ever had.
Muse kind of rocks - which is something i didnt expect myself to say. MMJ & PJ - how do you top that? I thought it was a shame dp didnt close it out, because that was the show of the weekend.
plus, knockout stuff from P Spree, Paulo Nutini, Patti Smith, Roky Erickson (really!), iggy pop, the roots...
honestly, i think roo could learn a lot from lolla. lolla has way better map booklets, food signs, merch signs, shade, food, scheduling, and general organization. aside from the shade, it's not huge issues - but they can take a fest from liveable to enjoyable.
also, it gave me a chance to raise my real karma when i returned a woman's wallet (it was fucking huge!!!) full of cash and credit cards to the lost and found before some creep could loot it...

What an amazing weekend. Daft Punk killed it, probably the most fun I've ever had. Yeah Yeah Yeah's were HOT! Modest Mouse was on point, and Muse was an out of body experience. Comparing Roo and Lolla is like apples to oranges, both of them have a special place in my heart and I will never miss either one again.
PS I've attended all three that have been in Chi-Town and they are doing an amazing job improving logistics each year, the only thing left to fix is the side stage situation. They were either too crowded (Cold War Kids should play a big stage), had tech difficulties (PB&J lost power and everyone left), and there was sound bleed to the addidas stage (especially durring Rod Y Gab).
yeah, there was some sound bleeding, but it didnt seem as bad as roo to me. for the most part, it seemed that the stages near each other don't have simultaneous acts on at the same time.
i have to say, im not feeling the super-sponsorship of it - and the exclusive "bud-only" beer selection really sucked. where was the local beer??? but it was pretty amazing. next year, we'll probably go to ACL. but chicago is pretty great
and good thing i brought my own party favors, because i couldn't find a supply house anywhere...
