I love big cypruss. You guys should have met this guy. he went by three names;
Uncle Dan Dan the Man Uncle Dose.
He was no means a druq person, just an original, straight from the woods of cali. He was completly awesome! Boots can confirm.
AND SOUNDTRIBE was incredible
Yeah, man. On the ride back home, i thought that there is a chance that nobody got his picture.
I'm gonna get one, though.
Get this!
When i was going through some of my stuff, i found that business card that he gave me. Remember that? He only had two of em, you could tell they were well worn..He said we were "worthy"..
I'm gonna call him when i get my head together.
Remember is "hash weed"?! Bwahahahaha
The Running Flip.
THE HANGER!!!!!! ( x's 2..of course )
One of the greatest nights ever.
that guy couldnt even talk when he first came up. He was absolutly wild!!
i just remember him trying that flip and hearing ::Thump!:: and everyone laughing so hard.
and is that shit even real? wtf was that?? He stopped by monday morn to feed us pb and j's and to get our numbers. We waited around a bit for ya to stop by for a good bye corning but we figured you guys dipped out.
1. Thievery Corporation 2. G. Love 3. The National 4. !!! 5. Ben Folds 6. of Montreal 7. Disco Biscuits 8. Ghostland
(i couldn't stop...too many good ones lol)
also i have some pics that i'll post later, i just got back from a rx bandits show and am exhausted
i didnt/couldnt pull myself away from phil to see the national. how were they?
they were amazing. i wasn't impressed at all with their bonnaroo so i wasn't really expecting to be blown away but they turned to be incredible. their music translates a lot better in a live setting than on disc, it just builds up on every song to this amazing ending. i highly suggest seeing them if you have a chance. of course you can't really go wrong with phil lesh though

word. was there a crowd for them?
yea pretty big one. i was up front where most of the people had stayed for minus the bear/of montreal/ the national
uneventful except for the random rock that hit the windshield at 80 miles an hour and put a crack in it... but it's only a little crack and it's on the very edge so it's all OK.
Dang what an festival. I had a blast. I love you guys.

I must be the only person who went to Umphrey's. I thought it was by far the best set of the weekend! Absolutely insane glowstick war, blazing set, and you could tell they were having soo much fun also. I left to check out STS9, who were great as well, but I ended up going back to Umphrey's like 30 minutes later. Im glad I did because it was mondo easy to get a great spot, since everyone was at STS9. It was too awesome to deny!
^^^ I was at Umphrey's!!! It was great. The glowies were insane. (Dr. Dopplar and I were responsible for 400 of them) I thought that show was one of the best of the weekend.
well i had an absolute blast at langerado! the weather and the fire ants were only a minor issue. the crowd was amazing! i knew when i got to the gas station up the road and everyone was screaming that this was gonna be a crazy fest. and it was. les and dso started it off with amazing shows. and the last half hour of p-groove that i caught was insane! umphreys threw down the show of the weekend fri. night. what an insane show! the end of sts9 was amazing too. and we braved the storm to go catch phix and they were damn good. i only wish they could have played longer before the storm hit because they sounded amazing. bisco put on a killer show on saturday night. and on sunday grace potter was amazing! then mule was outstanding and that was the best phil show i am yet to see!
as far as disappointments go that bassnectar show was a bit of a let down. i loved it and danced my ass off but it wasnt up to my expectations. the first half was way too slow. but it was still great. the only other thing i can think of is that the roots sucked IMO. i missed a bunch of music to sit there for an hour. why dont they come out and announce when they are gonna be late so we can catch some music and come back? and then when they came out he said the n word no less then 50 times in the first 10 minutes and it was just all too gangsta rap for me. it was my first roots show and i guess i was just expecting something closer to j5 then to 50 cent. and he has some infatuation with jay-z apparantly. anyhow i thought it blew. the only redeeming quality was the dude with the tuba. he was high energy and it was badass to see him dance around with that thing.
the gate people sucked to get to the stages. there was one mega-bitch in particular that was just screaming and being obnoxious the whole weekend. i saw them do lots of shady doodie. other then that i have no complaints other then the vendors were overpriced. 3 dollar grilled cheeses????? 6 dollar pizza slices????
also the police presence was a bit weird. they were rolling all through that place. they brought in a guard tower on a lift and all sorts of crap. during phil about 20 cops with k-9 unit jackets on came barging through the crowd. i never saw where they wound up but they were doing something in force. but it was nice to see the horse people were back to their friendly ways after all the nonsense at roo.
all in all i cant say enough good things about langerado and the site. as long as it is held there i will go every year. what an amazing weekend!!!! and i cant say enough good things about the people i met. all the inforooers i met were cool as hell! and just the crowd in general was amazing. i didnt see any problems the whole weekend. and i was at the end of sts9 after umph and it seemed like a great crowd to me. but i was only there for 45 minutes. and i was probably one of the people juggernaut was talking about, cuz i was feeling GOOOOOD! that night. but hey i had an awesome time dancing my ass off and raging with all the other spun losers!!

.... the National. They put on one of the best sets of the weekend, ... I feel blessed to have seen them - Apartment Story might have been the best song of the weekend.
this just gave me the chills (despite the fact they seemingly were shafted). i'm even more excited for the REM/ modest mouse/ the national show in june!
thank you all for sharing your stories and photos. i'd be lying if i said i wasn't just a little jealous, but it's wonderful to hear how much we look out for each other.
I just sent this to the JewClaw, but here's the wonderful game of Whiffletard...
You take a whiffle bat, with the little hole in the bottom of the handle, and then slice off the very top of the bat so it's open at the big end. Then you pour in a beer, with your finger over the little hole, and the "pitcher" holds your empty can for the time being. You chug the beer and how ever many seconds it takes you to slam it back -- let's say seven seconds -- that's how many seconds you have to spin for, with your forehead on the end of the bat and the other end on the ground. Everyone counts off and when it's done, the pitcher throws the can at you and you have to try and hit it.
There are no winners and losers. Just spilling, drunkeness, falling down, and the beauty of whiffletard.

regarding the STS9 show, i think the show was a little dark in general because of the impending doom/weather. thats the vibe i got .... but i still had fun. as far as the druq thing... i mean it doesnt suprise me at all. and im a bisco fan too so i take offense to the bisco-lite thing hehehe. no matter what - music like that is gonna bring the druqs (trust me i was in the rave scene for years)... you just have to ignore it, and enjoy it for what it is.

If that STS9 show didn't have energy then I don't know what I was dancing for 2.5 hours for... Just out of curiosity, where were you standing about for STS9 Juggernaut? I was up front with my head a few feet from the left speaker and the crowd around me was loving it and they all seemed coherent to me. Sometimes when people dance they just look really effed up. I could be a prime example of this, because I have no dancing abilities whatsoever but that doesn't mean I don't have fun doing whatever it is I do during shows
And I remember waiting for The Roots patiently until atleast 30 minutes after they were scheduled and then I got fed up and left. I agree with dude that someone should have come out and explained the situation and given an approximate starting time. I'm sad that I missed their show, but I never heard them start the entire walk back to the camp so I never felt the slightest urge to turn around and go back. I probably needed the rest anyways for the late night.
As far as the gator goes -- they were just dragging that poor thing all over the place when we saw it. Everytime it tried to get in the water, they'd grab it and yank it back into view. It was like the circus, but with inbred yokels running the show. People were jeering the handlers, which I didn't want to get down with, but it was kind of crappy -- left a bad feeling in my gut.

Oh, I'm very much a Bisco fan - this past New Year's was the first one I didn't spend with the Disco Biscuits in several years. Their scene still really sucks though - a lot of aggressiveness, and way too much hardcore druq abuse. Let me put it this way - a Bisco show is the only one where I ever feel like I'm in danger of getting knifed by someone in the crowd.
Also, there were a group of (very vocal) Bisco fans who were near where I was at the start of STS9, who basically stood there and talked sh*t about STS9 and how much they sucked. It was a real vibe killer to start things off. If I wasn't, you know, afraid of getting stabbed I would have said some shit, but then again it was 1 on 6.
And like I said, the druqs don't necessarily bother me - lots of people load up on whatever and dance their asses off, and have a blast. That's not what I'm talking about; I'm talking about the guys who are so blasted they can barely walk, and all the people who give off a nasty, menacing vibe when they're all tweaked out.
nasty. i didnt hear anyone complaining about it. i like sts9 and i like bisco. i like bisco more. no offense to sts9/fans. the crowd can get a little weird at a bisco show. it brings out the raver/hippy/weird/cantexplainitcrew....anyways *hugs* from me ;D too bad you werent at the new years run cuz i was at the nyc shows

oh i also wanted to say that the portapotties at rado were really well kept. i just kept hitting the ones by our camp everytime they cleaned them, and it seemed like a lot. even the ones in center didnt seem that bad (cept for the mud near the chickihut)
