Has anyone heard this album yet? It's freakin good. Really good. I've only gotten through it a couple times but man, Malkmus has some amazing solos on this album. I really loved Face the Truth, and he's/they've followed up with another really quality effort.
I'm looking forward to this album though, Malkmus has really turned into a guitar god. "1% of One" off of Pig Lib is straight up ridiculous...can't wait to hear what he has on the new record.
I really love Face the Truth, but this one seemed kind of rambling and unfocused to me on first listen. Just started 2nd listen with an open mind and digging the first track.
He kind of pissed me off with his (lazy) performance at Pitchfork this year, and I was a bit underwhelmed with the bit of his set at Roo I saw in '06 (or was it '05), but I still love the guy and would be happy to see him on the Roo lineup again.
Totally digging the first track this time through. "Shake me off the knife because I want to go home".

Just listened to the first 4 songs, and damn, you weren't lying.
This album is my least favorite Malkmus album. I had high hopes after really enjoying "Pig Lib" which is the other Jicks album- but this is disappointing.
janet weiss is the cans. and malkmus can still wail. certainly a bit more jammy, but no complaints here.
Yeah, it is a bit more jammy, but I think that's it's strong suit. It doesn't stray too far from the path that it can't find it's way back to the catchy quirkiness that I love so much about him.

The only one I've found is from an in-store performance at Amoeba. Which is too promote the album, so... I'm seeing him Friday though. I'll report back.

saw SM & Jicks saturday in Indy. Really good show and the band sounded the best out of 4 shows i've seen. granted the lineup has changed a bit with Janet on drums (she was great). Played most the the new album plus Animal Midnight, Oyster, Dark Wave, The Hook and encored with Baby C'mon. Set was cut short because the Vogue turns into a shitty dance club by 10:30 at night. Good place to see a show but that is really annoying. Vanderslice was pretty good too. I really didnt know much of his material but he was good enough to get me interested.

Aw, thanks...you just made my day! Seeing him in DC on Friday and I can't wait.
