I lay my head onto the sand The sky resembles a backlit canopy With holes punched in it I'm counting UFOs I signal them with my lighter And in this moment I am happy...happy
"In other words, grab the next motherfucker marmaduke, who refuses to subdue to these pelvic ostentations. I can't wait until the syllables bend. Let's get this marmaduke naked, let's get this marmaduke naked... so lose your head and go to pieces! Don't you make fun of me... don't you make fun of me! I'm gonna be, gonna be, I'm gonna be a hot dancer!"

I would have to skip on Incubus, but I could see them playing a preheadlining spot on the main stage. I don't fear them sending Bonnaroo down the dreaded "slippery slope," but I don't quite think their big/important enough to headline either. I guess I'm ambivilant.

have you actually listened to them though? on the surface they would seem like just another modern rock band, with sappy love songs and a singer that gets attention by taking his shirt off. but beyond that they are good musicians. i don't know if they still do it but they use to have a drum jam in their set where the bass player played on a separate drum kit and the singer played other percussion. plus the guitarist is really good.
I would love to see Incubus at Bonnaroo, but I think I agree with Stallion that they're not neccesarily a headliner. And if I had to guess, I'd be willing to bet that's he has listened to them.

i don't think they should be headliner either. pre-headliner is a good spot for them. like right before pearl jam. nice.

I remember a very similar discussion this time last year about Tool being at Roo........ There were many naysayers, but in the end I do believe they turned out to be a wonderful fit for Roo. I feel the same about Incubus. I also agree they wouldn't be a headliner but maybe pre or post headliner.

i voted "don't mind either way" only because i've disliked their last two albums immensely. I often joke with my friend (who's a huge fan) about how Incubus is the worst band on earth and how much they suck. I don't believe it, they are still a solid band for sure.
But alot of people here seem to be into them, so bring them, and i'll go to another stage and catch some smaller acts that i've never heard.... EVERYONE IS HAPPY! ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, I've given them a listen. I kinda liked what I heard on Science but everything else just didn't do it for me. I wasn't slamming their musicianship, just saying that in the grand scope of things I think Roo could find a lot of other bands to headline before Incubus.

that's the kind of attitude everyone should have about it. if you don't like a bnd that is playing just go find something else. you have lots of options.

fair enough, i wish they still sound like they did back then too. but i still enjoy some of the stuff they are doing.

I absolutely would not want to see them as a headliner. Wouldn't really bother me if they played anywhere else. I would have some degree of interest in stopping by to see if I dug it. For the record, yes I have heard the vast majority of their stuff.
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!
I dont think theres anyway they could be a headliner. You guys tend underestemate the outside potential draw of headliners (Think MMJ, who could never ever be a Bonnaroo headliner, I'm sorry. I dig them, but theyre just NOT big enough).
I see Incubus as a late night set on the Which Stage, rather than a pre-headliner. (Think The Flaming Lips this year)

As was mentioned before, their musicianship is perfect for Bonnaroo. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of Brandon Boyd and his lyrics, Incubus is one of my favorite bands because of that. If anything, the band and Brandon Boyd are the negative inverse to one another--with the band getting better and Boyd getting sappier over the years.
They would definitely be best at a late night spot or a preheadliner. But that's not to say I don't think they can do a headlining spot. It all really just depends on who else is on the line-up in comparison.
