How is that an "exiciting" announcement? Seems like WSP is at every festival. It's about as exciting as announcing that there's gonna be gyros & frozen lemonades.
Haha Karma Al, well put. I could do without WSP- they headlined 2 nights one year, isn't that enough? I would check em out for sure but thats not a BIG announcement for anyone.
Why would we get word a long time ago about no more headliner additions and then get Widespread Panic?
This sucks. I skipped over WP last year because I had no intention to even see them and they only sounded alright from my campsite. This is real dissapointing that Widespread will be the "big announcement".
Considering WSP is playing in nearby Murfreesboro TONIGHT and STILL need to sell some tickets, this makes all the sense in the world that they would hold off on the announcement.
Thanks for the info, BD! Now I know not to get excited. Karma
im not gonna let this ruin my day or anything... but im just really sad that the allmans wont be there i was hoping the announcement would make me feel better but...
My world just ended.....but who know's, maybe they will include Kings of Leon or some other act similiar that would atleast make up some of the difference. Plus maybe they'll release the schedule early now. (Ok, Im being wishful).
If the replacement act is WSP and thats all they are announcing tomorrow, I will officially cry myself to sleep everynight until June 13-14ish when I see Sigur Ros late night, which I am sure will have such a profound effect on me that it will make me forget the disappointment of tomorrow's "BIG" and "EXCITING" announcment...

Honestly, I've never quite understood why WSP was such a big name act for Bonnaroo to begin with. I feel like you could put them on Which Stage in the middle of the day and they probably wouldn't even fill it to capacity. I've never heard people walking around the festival talking about how they can't wait for the WSP show.

BD, that's why I am holding out hope that SF has enough respect for its customers not to add Widespread and promote it as "big" two days after Prince is announced at another festival. The irony would be too thick.

[glow=red,2,300]THERE'S GONNA BE GYRO'S AND LEMONADE??!@#@!#@!
People here were worried about being the laughingstock of the festival circuit when this announcement did not live up to expectations. Now I wasn't anticipating on seeing Led Zeppelin being added because I just didn't think it was going to happen, but I was hoping more than some generic jam band that everyone has seen hundreds of times. If anything its insulting to see The Allman Brothers Band to be replaced by WSP.

If we started a list of bands I'd rather have than WSP, I would be here all afternoon.
Here's a fact: According to Clapton's schedule, he has nothing to do that weekend. Why not try to book him, instead of getting the same band you always fall back on? It seems like Superfly calls up WSP whenever they've run out of money and says, "Hey, you guys aren't busy, are you?"
last year, we just chilled out at the campsite and listened to panic. im sort of more into them than ive ever been, so it might be good to check them out. actually, that chill out session was one of my favorite parts of roo and a decent way to wind down
but as far as a big announcement? uh... no. big announcements should be either bands that never perform live or really hot / relevant acts.
I am not one to pray but this seems like an instance to do so. I was at the WSP set last year and i don't remember who said it but they were right the show started to get boring after the 2nd hour. I have to have faith they are not playing again this year.

the sick part is...i was (and still am) more than happy with the lineup already. even with ABB cancelling, theres going to be more great bands than i can even get to..so its not WSP that pisses me off (they are fine, im sure ill catch some of it).
what i am pissed at is the "big" announcement stuff...that was just a cock tease.
