I'm sorry, I'm ignorant to Dead stuff, but... wouldn't this have to do with the past, like a re-release of the catalogue or something? I mean, if it were an announcement regarding the current band, wouldn't it read "Dead Conference Announcement"?

I want to believe, but this was the first thing that caught my attention when I read about it. Something to do with the digitalizing of the archive or some other sort of "product" seems likely. We'll see I suppose. A one off festival, mini-Obama tour, or something like that wouldn't be the worst thing either.
PhilZone is all "atwitter" over this. With all the insiders lurking around there, my guess is that the event has been mentioned, in one way or another. We will see I guess...

Relax guys. Remember last time when we all got our hopes up? Lol....anyway I'd imagine it's gonna be pretty cool whatever the announcement is.
It could have somethign to do with Barack Obama and maybe playing a show of his or telling people to vote or something like that. They've been very vocal (look on youtube and junk) about their support of Barack and how he can change America......so maybe it has something to do with that.
Reuniting at Bonnaroo is too much to ask for at this point. I'd love it but i'm not getting my hopes up at all. I'll hope for a tour and the chance to check them out later in the year.
-Grateful Dead press conference - special announcement - watch live web stream on iclips.net 11am PST, 4/24 ?
why would they call a press conference to announce like a catalog of their music or a product? it's gotta be a tour!
I hope you're right, but why would they use "The Grateful Dead" and not "The Dead," or whatever name they'd be touring under?
Some folks on PhilZone are standing by this...
"The press conference is to announce that the Grateful Dead will be giving their physical archives (props from shows, etc) to the University of Santa Cruz."
where the hell are the langerado archives on i-clips?? it seems to be taking a long time to post them
there may be a chance that they won't post much. A friend that didn't go said the iClips service was a bit out of whack because the weather Thursday, and then the storm on Friday funked up some important gear.
