An excerpt from a letter to the editor, Colorado Springs Gazette:
"SUPPORT THE TROOPS Many soldiers missing out on Bush’s stimulus checks
In August 2006 the 10th Mountain Division, 2nd BCT, 1-89 Cavalry was sent to Iraq for 12 months. In April 2007, the troops were told the Army was adding three additional months to their time in country.
In November 2007 the troopers of 1-89 arrived back in New York from their tour. They are now being told by the IRS, via the IRS Web site, that they haven’t earned enough money to qualify for the economic stimulus check."
Tax Rebate As you may have heard, the President and Congress have said each and every one of us will soon get a nice rebate 'gift.'
If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China.
If we spend it on gasoline, it will all go to the Arabs.
It we purchase a computer, it will all go to India. If we purchase fruit and vegetables, it will all go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala.
If we purchase a good car, it will all go to Japan.
If we purchase useless crap, it will all go to Taiwan, and none of it (aside from the sales tax) will help the American economy.
We need to keep that money here in America, so tell all your friends to buy Jack Daniel's whisky, and beer, since those are the only businesses still in the U.S.!
Well, the last part of my divorce was settled in 2007. We had to sell property and it was taxed as income. That put me over the max allowed for a single parent. Hence, I will get nothing for myself and my three kids. There needs to be a division between Job income and income through the sale of property. Bad timing should be my middle name. I'd like to do my part to stimulate the economy, but the government F'd me again. Thanks George W Bush.

I'm a 71 and I thought it was gonna be direct deposited a long time ago, but it wasn't. Then I found out that I fell under some fine-print rule that said I'd get a paper check much later, but I'm starting to think I'm just not gonna get one at all and I'm cool with that. $600 that I didn't have anyways so really who cares... Didn't lose a dime on it
I filed at the end of February, I cant believe it took this long. What pisses me off is that I finally contacted them asking what was taking so long. I get a response saying "We need copies of your W-2s to process your refund." To which my response was, "where in the hell are the W-2s I mailed with my return???"
I have a feeling they just tucked it back somewhere, forgot about it, and weren't going to do anything about it. Then I would've been out $1000. Thanks guys!
