Let's see....mine has a ton of random stuff that's not really related to driving...it's like a 15 hour trip for us so we need lots of music! But here's some of the ones that actually are road trip type songs...not necessarily driving songs but songs about friends or just songs that are necessary singalongs...
With a Little Help From My Friends - Beatles Darlington County - Springsteen (necessary if your road trip takes you through Jersey!) American Pie - Don McLean (it's a rule that everybody in the car must sing along with the entire thing) Me and Bobby McGee - Janis Joplin 1000 Miles Per Hour - OK Go Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen (another singalong!) Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf Island in the Sun - Weezer Magic Bus - The Who Heavy Metal Drummer - Wilco Tiny Dancer - Elton John (another singalong, Almost Famous style!) The Way - Fastball
Beach Boys is good too when it's sunny, although if it's sunny and you're driving and you listen to a song like "Shut Down" you WILL end up going about 60 mph down your driveway.
Also, Santeria should always be played, and probably Wrong Way too.
I've always considered it a concert foul to listen to music by the artist that you are going to see. With so many artists at Bonnaroo, this can be pretty tough.
Dave, Skynyrd, String Cheese, Springsteen, moe., Bob Dylan....
Basically anything that everybody knows is always good to belt out at the top of your longs on the way to roo, so stick with the classics. But depending on your drive (mine is about 14 hours), you may have to mix it up a bit. Stand up comedy is always pretty good for a solid couple of hours.

Yeah, I'll definitely be filling the ipod up with the artists who are playing. Sort of did the same thing for our spring break road trip, it was like bonnaroo practice since one of the guys I'm going with (and so far the only other person with a ticket) was in the same car as me for spring break.
And I agree about stand-up, especially if you have a long drive and you'll be driving overnight. You pay more attention to stand-up then to most music, so it can help keep you awake. Demetri Martin, Lewis Black, Dane Cook, Mitch Hedberg, Stephen Lynch, and Jim Gaffigan are among our standbys.
What we did last time both in the car and at the campsite, and also for our spring break roadtrip, was to just take turns picking songs from our ipods...we'd pass the cable around and each person would play something from their ipod. It always seems like everyone wants to pick songs rather than just letting it shuffle because every song reminds you of something else you want to hear....and besides, that way nobody gets tired of somebody else's music.

Last year, my friends and I listened to the Police and Girl Talk the whole way down. We also had the always cliche Bohemian Rhapsody sing-a-long. Pretty fantastic.

CW McCall - Convoy Kermit and Fozzie - Movin' Right Along...now that I think about it, anything Muppets - Manamana rocks too John Denver - Country Roads
And with this playlist on repeat, I will be driving my pop-up trailer straight into the ditch.
Only two immediately come to mind but I'm sure I'll add more later! (I also don't listen to the artists I'm going to see -- it's bad show karma for me.)
Ani DiFranco -- "God's Country" & "Every State Line" Golden Earring -- "Radar Love" (or you could listen to the White Lion cover if you're feeling a bit more 80's) Go Go's -- "Vacation"
First year, I remember that we listened to allot of Beck, allot of Radiohead, some Tom Petty, some Dead, some Dungen, some Ben Folds live album, some Clap Your Hands, some Streets, and some of Laibach for giggles sake.

I don't listen to bands I am going to see either. Seems like overkill. I will probably be listening to some Janis, The Beatles, the Dead---I like to stick with the oldies.
Books on tape are also a pretty good time. Depending on what we ingest for the ride down, i might look for some corny horror books on tape.
As for songs: Clutch - The House That Peterbilt Burning Brides - Blood on the Highway (on second thought, strike that one. bad karma) Camper van Beethoven - Joseph Stalin's Cadillac Sugar Ray - Mean Machine (if you're feeling nostalgic for middle school) Hail Social - Get in the Car Black Angels - Bloodhounds on My Trail (when there's a cop around) Heavy D & The Boys - Now That We Found Love
I also always like playing a goofy band like Ween or Tenacious D, espcially with people who have never heard it before.
I've got a long trip ahead of me (16 hours each way. solo as of now)
WAY THERE
Dr. Dre - The Chronic Allman Brothers - Eat A Peach Jimi Hendrix - Morning Symphony Ideas (find this if you don't have it) Herbie Hancock - Secrets or Mr. Hands maybe some Tribe Called Quest - People's Instinctive Travels Talking Heads - Remain In Light Jose Gonzalez - Veneer The Mars Volta - Bedlam in Goliath The Most Serene Republic - Phages Outkast - Stankonia
WAY BACK
Bob Dylan - Bringing It All Back Home Crew Jones - Who's Beach early Against Me! Dredg - El Cielo Fela Kuti - Original Suffer Head/ITT Bon Iver - For Emma Forever Ago Kaki King - Until We Felt Red Mice Parade - Mice Parade Nick Drake - Pink Moon
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo
AC/DC - "Highway to Hell" Johnny Cash - "I've Been Everywhere" Steppenwolf - "Born to be Wild" and "Magic Carpet Ride" Jackson Browne - "Running on Empty" Kiss - "Rock and Roll All Night" Bubbles - "BidiBodi BidiBu", aka "that techno song from Super Troopers" Foghat - "Slow Ride" The Doors - "Roadhouse Blues" Whitesnake - "Here I Go Again"
