^ i wonder how trooo to size they are. maybe i should hit up target - the store. i guess this belongs in the shopping thread! LOL.
the actual target store doesnt have all the cute options target.com has. they run true to size, i have a pair!
My target didn't have any - even non-cute ones. I ordered two different styles, both in 8 when I wear an 8 1/2 or 9 (they don't have 1/2 sizes). One was WAY too big and one JUST fit but there wasn't enough support on the bottom and had no room for proper inserts. So I gave up and am just going to tough it out in my crocs.
I think I'm the Goldilocks of rainboots. ;D
But really - if you're ordering them online and we're so close to leaving, you may want to order in your size and in a size down, just in case. You can return at the store so you don't have to pay return shipping costs.
PS: I'm kinda concerned about rain proofing our campsite. We're planning on having our tent (with rain fly) under an EZ Up, and then another shade tent for hanging out under with sheets attached for shade. We also bought reflective tarps- shade was our biggest concern but if its gonna be overcast, looks like we might need to focus our attention on not getting everything we bring soaked. Tips?
Well, they're not giving a percentage on the rain forecast, either...
Dryday's usually pretty good, and a forecast of "rain" could easily end up meaning a 30% chance of rain with clouds all day.
So really, while they're saying rain, it may only rain for an hour or two. Remember last year, on Friday, there was a forecast for rain, and it only ended up sprinkling for like five minutes?
Prepare for the worst, but don't feel silly about hoping for the best!
Friday is the only day calling for "rain." Probably meaning 60% chance or higher. The other days call fro showers probably meaning about 30%.
The weather channel has rain Wed and showers Thurs meaning the front may come through a couple days earlier cooling things off and leaving some showers but no solid rain.
It's too early to tell for sure but I'd plan for some showers and not worry about getting drenched as of yet.

FYI .. i was just at target.. they had a limited selectiion of adult womens.. as in 4 pairs only. all polka dot black. i contemplated buying.. and using my sharpie.. cause im just not a polka dot chic. anyways... i woulda bought em one size smaller. im going to wait.. the forecast could easily change.
so, if there is rain...what are some good ideas for rain proofing your campsite? does target carry boots for guys too?
Guys boots are easier to find and much cheaper. Any Lowe's has them and most Wal-Marts keep them on the back wall in the shoe department or in the fishing/sporting area.
Yeah, it is way too early to predict the weather, I really don't think we will get a monsoon every day. A little rain to mix things up is ok. I'm an optomist so I'm hoping for the best!!
I think from what we've seen we should have pretty decent weather this year. Basically, typical southern summer weather. Not extremely hot but warm. Not a lot of rain but the typical afternoon summer shower. And nice cool evenings. I for one am stoked!
oh man, if it's beautiful, I will be sleeping like 2 hours a night. That heat and dust just wore me out too much last year. Perfect weather means perfect partying!
Any rain protection will get VERY hot very quickly. I use ponchos for short term rains. If it rains all day, I just plan on getting wet.
I like ponchos because they give better air flow
Plastic stuff like ponchos and vinyl raincoats will turn into saunas. Breathable canvas allows heat to escape while keeping out moisture. I have a full rain suit from Frogg Toggs that does OK. www.froggtoggs.com/catalog/2008catalog/page04.asp
If we get Bonsoons and there is constant rain and mud I will be wearing the top from the suit and breathable canvas waders with jungle boots. I'll basically look like this minus the scarf, wool hat and fishing rod.
Man, the weather is HOT right now. at 11am it was 88 and feels like 92) Yesterday the conditions at the local airport were Hi 92 RH 55%(at max Temp) Heat Index : 102 and it was still 80 and muggy at midnight last night
This of course means pop-up T-storms. this would be worst case for Roo. These conditions are what led to the '04 monsoon.
Thank God they're calling for a front to come through bringing rain on Wed, dropping the humidity and cooling things off. The forecast looks lot like last year. Let's hope the forecast holds.
