Hey everyone, thanks to an inspiration from tentseasurfer and support from others, I would like to organize a meetup of cool Dad's at Roo on Sunday.
WHAT: Father's Day Dawn of the Dad at Bonnaroo 2008
WHERE: BROO'ERS TENT (let's say the picnic tables to start)
WHEN: Noon! The music likely starts at 12:30 so it might be a good time to meet up then wander to whatever band...
RULE: All Dad's welcome! Families too and even non-Dad's... but our point is to give a moment to celebrate Father's Day. And I'd like to propose one rule: You have to buy a Dad a beer. Even if you just end up buying one and receiving one, the point is the gesture. We'll toast our kids, our significant others and the dads before us.*
*I hate rules, so like all rules, it's not a real requirement; but wouldn't it be cool if it worked?
It won't be man- let's get together for a Father's Day beer. This will be my 4th father's day at Roo away from my daughter (she's 4- I spent the first one with her, haven't done one since). Next year she'll be joining my wife and I on a family-Roo trip that will likely be a very different experience.
But I like to think that being at Roo and experiencing that community and affinity for diverse music is what makes us better dad's. And that our children would not only want us to, but love us for being that guy who likes that (versus say, a squaredancer who hates their kid's music).
But it is a weird and reflective morning, that Sunday morning. Last year my own tribute to my dad made it into the Bonnaroo Beacon (they ask for small text tributes each year) so that was cool.
But a Sunday afternoon/early-morning spent in reflection of how lucky we are to have great family's and to be father's who care-- well that's deserving of company and drink. So maybe we get the Dad's to meet at the KidzJam location(see main post above for real time/location now) sometime Sunday early afternoon and all go get a drink...

I'm there...if I get some time I'll paint up a sign..I work for a graphics company and have miles of banner material laying around...either way I'll swing by! Sounds like fun!

Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
SWEET DEAL. this year should be easier to get out into centeroo, since we will be in a camper. Last year by sunday, I was soo beat up that we didnt make it out of our campsite till later in the day!
I love Gainesville! I grew up in Miami, and cannot see myself ever going back.

Nice idea! I have a boy 13 daughter 11 and a boy 8. Bonnaroo is my only break during the year. Their mother gets them two weeks during the summer vacation and Roo is one of them. Roo needs a bloody mary bar!!!!! ;D

I am bringing my 16 year old son with me to Bonnaroo. We are spending a full week together and it should be a great time. We done that in the past with four-wheeling (trucks) in Moab Utah.
I've already promised him a trip to Vegas when he turns 21.....
The Vegas motto will apply this year - what happens at roo, stays at roo.

im all about it. its my first fathers day away from my kids. i got a 10 year old, 2 year old, and a 1 year old. i would love to take them but the heat wil be too much for the little one.

not a dad, but have a dad (who wont be there) and will be there to wish all the dads that are there a happy fathers day and drink a beer with them, much love and respect to ALL the great fathers of roo peace
