Has the schedule been released yet? Because I couldn't find it on the website, but I keep hearing people refer certain dates artists will be playing. Someone want to fill me in? Also, has anyone received their tickets in the mail yet? -Joey
No Tickets have not been mailed yet, about 8-10 days from now I think. As to tne schedule some things we know The headliners are Friday Metallica, Saturday Pearl Jam, Sun Panic. We got an announcement that MMJ, Phil and Friends, Tiesto, and Disco Biscuits had late night slots and we know from their artist pages which day they are scheduled. Some People Like Kanye, or Robert Randolph we know the day but not the time because of when they have other shows scheduled.
Try this thread and start on page 145 or 150 and you will get a lot of answers
I can only think that you are because you used that word to describe yourself. I am sure not eveyone shares my opinion but I find that word to be offensive - to me it is as offensive and derogatory as the racist word used here in the South or using any offensive word to describe a minority. JMHO

Don't worry Meg, I didn't mean to be offensive. Though I am truly African American as a white dude if that interests you. My dad is of Portugeuse and Irish descent, born and raised in Angola, Africa. And my mother is of Belgian descent, born and raised in the Belgian Congo (now Ziare.) And I was born in Florida. So there you have it, a true African American white guy. -Joey
I did not think you were intentionally trying to be offensive - alot of times people don't think before they use certain words - I have a lot of friends down here who were raised that the "n" word is ok - it has to do with how people are raised and if you have never been exposed to special needs children or had close friends that tell you how offensive the word is - then you just don't think about it. Now that I said something - hopefully people who have read this thread will think before they use this particular word.

I'm with Meg on this. It's one of my biggest peeves at work. That and using 'gay' in a derrogatory way. Not cool, not accurate and not necessary. Karma at ya, Meg, for having the balls to speak up!

Kudos to you Meg. When I was a teen my friends and I would refer to each other as that word. Later on in life I married a lady that had a special needs child. I vowed from the day I met him that I would never use that word nor would I allow it to be spoken in my presence without a lecture. It is a very hurtful word and there may be folks that read this forums that would be hurt by it. Anyhow, sorry to rant, it is just a pet peave of mine. Peace out.

Now, neither you nor I really fall into any of those groups of people I don't think so neither you nor I may be directly offended, which isn't the point anyways, but just in my opinion if someone is offended by a word I usually make the effort to silence my repeating of the word out of courtesy for that person.

In eddie's defense, do you really think a retard would of been capable of figuring out where and how people know what the schedule is shaping up to be? If thats the case than he was politically correct in referring to himself as a retard.

I gotta fall into camp with chandler here. Words by themselves are much less important than the context by which they're surrounded. Bob Dylan dropped an 'N-Bomb' in "Hurricane" and he doesn't belong to the particular group of people to which that term derogatorily applies, but I don't think anybody's ever accused him of being a racist. His usage of that word in that song, it it's particular context, has been widely viewed as acceptable. With that being said I don't think that people should go around dropping N-Bombs and I feel that people do have every right to be offended by it, but again, in context. If I'm quoting a line that I particularly like from a rap song that happens to contain that word, clearly there's no malice behind it and it's different than if I were to use that word to describe somebody.
Like it or not, 'gay' and 'retard' are commonly used slang words now and are usually used in a context which does not even apply to those groups of people. If someone sees a group of mentally handicapped people walk by and says "hey, look at all those retards," I think most people (including most people who regularly use that word) would be offended. But I doubt that when the OP wrote the title to this thread that the mentally handicapped even crossed his mind. He was just using a word that's commonly associated in everyday language with 'slow' or 'stupid.' So the original derivation of the word may be offensive, but his usage of it comes from the same social conditioning by which we use all other words and he clearly meant no malice toward that particular group. Remember, the word 'gyp' was, way back when, a derogatory word for gypsies, which was even earlier a derogatory word for traveling Hungarians. So it's original derivation is offensive to a particular group, but it's most common usage in today's language and society indicates no ill will toward that particular group. Context.

my whole point is not whether the word is wrong or right - my point was that it is offensive to some people and it is offensive to me. Until you know someone with a special needs child or have one yourself - you will never realize just how offensive the word is - and it has become offensive BECAUSE it has become a slang worg - it is used as an alternate word for stupid - and special needs kids are NOT stupid.
So Chandler - you can take your arguement about this whole thing elsewhere - I was not looking for an argument or even a discussion on what words are "good" and what words are "bad" I ws simply stating my mind and will ask that people think about what they are saying and refrain from using the word.
Think about someone besides yourself for a change.
