Hey guys, I went to our monthly Chamber of Commerce meeting today and today was the annual Bonnaroo meeting, with a rep from roo speaking.
Here are some of the things he had to say:
The property owned by AC/Superfly now has an official name, it is "Great Stage Park". Way back in the day, the very first road to connect Manchester to Alabama was called Great Stage Road.
He said there is a possibility that there may be additional events on the site as early as next year.
There will be no Jazz Tent this year and in its place is the New Orleans tent. For the first time ever, roo attendees will be charged a cover charge to get in the N.O. tent. All proceeds going to Hurricane Katrina relief.
The Comedy Tent has been redesigned to a Circus Type Tent. The seating will be elevated bleacher type seating and it will hold about 2000.
There will also be a numbering system for the Comedy Tent so you dont have to stand in line. You get a number and then come back when the next show is starting.
Also, there will be a full service post office on site this year. Mail your daddy a card folks!!!
Also, the official opening of the gates is 6am Thursday this year, but they will open Wed night as always.
The farthest BFE field is not being used. The one that is at the far top right of the map. Ticket sales are down and they are expecting 60 - 65k this year.
so they will fill the lower bfe first with people who arrive wednesday and we wont have to worry about getting bfe thurs? or should we arrive even later on thurs now incase lower bfe takes a while to fill?

Awesome indeed, but also a bit of a bummer. No NoLa for a lot of us.
I am glad they are sending money down there, though! I was down there in October and it was still pretty ugly. The french quarter is looking good, but the houses around there are still half empty.

Good to hear!!! I like the Comedy tent setup i really want to see acts but i do not want to have to wait in such a huge line and chance missing music and not even getting in.

Thanks Chris for sharing the information - I am happy about the Comedy tent - maybe I migt check it out this year - not so happy about the NOLA tent as I kinda wanted to see PBS but lack funding for much extra stuff

I'm hoping for everyone's sake that the donation is only like $1 mandatory, more appreciated type thing. Most people could spare a buck or otherwise scrounge up one if they really wanted to check out a show... And you know there'd be people more than willing to give more than the bare minimum too

I've heard RUMORS that Widespread Panic might be doing something on the bonnaroo grounds...err... Great Stage Park (love the name, btw) sometime in the future. Operative word being "rumor".
I think this was discussed in the picture thread. I've been told The Watchtower is a camera set-up point for Fuse TV so they can get overhead shots of the crowd and stages since this is their first year broadcasting live.

Don't mean to be devious about it. I think Superfly and this specific entertainer are trying to keep the deal under wraps until they are signed, sealed, and delivered.

Wow, thanks for all the info - I love to hear all the changes and stuff that they make. Especially about the comedy tent, you can tell they really went "okay, this could work better, how do we make it more enjoyable?"
It makes me sad that there's going to be a smaller crowd...I guess it makes it more manageable and it's still a hefty chunk of people, but I hate to feel like anything is going downhill, y'know?
