I say, they did a good job this year. The traffic correction alone impressed me big time. Way to take the people's advise. I had really no problems. The only thing that slightly bothered me was, a group in a huge compound just down from us was having open fires in a portable fire pit. I feel rules apply to all. NO special privileges to those who have lots of money. Other than that, good job Bonnaroo we will be back.
Was that the people on the main drag across from the food tent? What was with that compound, that thing was huge and I never really ever saw anyone in there. They had loads of space, a ton of 50 gallon water drums and countless other supplies that seemed to go totally unused. Then they pulled out pretty damn early on sunday. I was curious what that was about the whole entire weekend.
Agreed though, rules are for everyone.
Yep, they had 8 spots, two huge sleeping tents and a big dinning tent. Shower room and two bathrooms. Totally a big buck outfit, somewhere out of Fla.

Our camper was directly in front of that huge compound. They went grande. What a great setup, but completely isolated (at least on our side) with blocking screens and canopies. I kept thinking they were going to open it up and have a huge party, but it never happened or we missed it. Saw them breaking it down on Sunday morning, they had a few large trailers.
I beg to differ. It is and will always be hard to cook for a couple thousand people. Manchester isn’t a large city and I imagine that they don’t see crowd that large that often. Even if they hire caterers from Nashville or other surrounding cities then they are working in conditions that they are probably not used to. Personally I like to give these people maybe some benefit of the doubt because it is A LOT harder job then many think it is.
The big reason I’m trying to defend these people is because I saw a lot of people being VERY mean and rude to these people throughout the weekend and it annoyed me.
Have some karma though for the sake of good discussion.
The conditions were nothing unbearable nor unworkable, espeically for people from he region. As for people being rude and mean, what do you expect? You pay about 150 dollars PER DAY for VIP, and are promised all these things. Bonnaroo needs to hire people who care and who are able to deliver the amenities they promised the customer. I would gladly pay for VIP, but not as long as I hear all these people talk about the promises not being followed through on.
i know this post is kinda old, and i know you probably didn't mean anything by it, but......"especially for people from the region"?
kinda sounds a little condescending towards southerners.....but i give you some karma anyway because that's how the universe is supposed to work.
well, i dont have much to bitch about that others havent already...
1) bring back the porto's in convenient locations! none by the entrance to roo? none at random places around? that will only result in people peeing at/around campsites instead of walking..
2) really? you guys ran out of food again this year? i heard the workers say they planned for 2500 and instead they were getting more like 3500. that's not good.
3) bring in some food vendors. waiting 30 minutes for more food is wasting my time when i could be bonnarooing.
4) link the "mound" to the general VIP area. why bother having to go through security twice?
Hey, idioteque and I didn't receive the iTunes download card that a bunch of people are talking about in the What threads. Were we the only VIP's not to receive one with all the check-in material? It sure wasn't with the T-shirt/poster distribution.
FWIW, I checked in pretty early in the morning. Maybe they didn't quite have their act together yet. I did email about it this morning, but haven't yet heard back.

We didn't get the iTunes cards either, at least not that I recall. I got the book and all, but not that. I just assumed they weren't doing them this year.

[to the theme of old MTV] I Want my iTunes Cards
I've read about these, but wondered if I missed an email, or something that had the appropriate information.
I hope this gets clarified - everything that GA gets and more - okay, not the crime, disease, etc....of the huddled masses. I do not think they got the distribution of space correct - they have areas overcrowded and some areas with nearly nobody. I still had issues with very noisy generators. I bought the quietest one on the market that I could find. We had some idiots that showed up in the middle of Thurs night and parked their two RV's in a tent area. It was their cheap ass generator that was the problem.
I think that they need to figure out a better distribution of the restrooms and showers. I did not enjoy the mud all around the showers and restroom facilities near the the food tent.
Place the facilities in a central location and provide better drainage and access for the honeybucket trucks. I think that they need to get a better on-site kitchen facility. Three times I had to wait for food because they were bringing it from the kitchen.
Put some of the food vendors in locations with access from GA and VIP. The other thing that they should have is ice within VIP. Saw hundreds of people trekking to haul ice. Maybe have discounted ice in VIP - it was a tad bit pricey. I bought two bags over the weekend because I have my :
It was great having ice cold stuff when I wanted it.
Are you sure you are talking about something available only at the time of check-in? We all received a download email for 21 songs from an iTunes sampler before the festival. We're talking about an additional 40 songs via a card apparently given out at check-in. A bunch of us didn't get cards for the other 40 songs. Sounds as if you might not have, either.

They weren't being condescending, I think the point was that it's easier for southerners to work in the heat than northerners. This is true. I wouldn't want to have to work outside in Minneapolis in February.
overall, i really had an awesome time at my first Bonnaroo as a VIP...however, there were one or two things which really upset me, as i feel us VIPers didn't receive what was promised to us. first of all, i can almost swear that i read on the bonnaroo website that VIP's would get a "free buffet tent and discounted drinks" for the weekend. well, the free drinks lasted for, what, two/three hours at the VIP Party, then after that we were charged FULL price for water, soda, beer, you name it. when we asked an employee working the tent, she smirked and gave a shady, generic response of "no, there were only free drinks the first night, and no discounts." WTF?? Also, the food at the food tent was really crappy. honestly, i would have preferred for them to just have dragged in five or six vendors from Centeroo and serve that instead. As a vegetarian, all i ate all weekend was salad and brownies...which resulted in my getting massive stomachaches all weekend Adding insult to injury, the food tent opened pretty late (11am?? come on, it's too hot to sleep past 8am), and there was always a long wait to actually get in. I was also pretty disappointed with our VIP seating mound, and lack of restroom there. and the VIP bleachers near Which stage were pretty far away...not to mention during MMJ they were FULL of general admission roo'ers because noone was checking wristbands. so my bf and i had to stand, we couldn't sit on the bleachers we paid double price for! ok, those are my 2 major complaints. getting into the farm, and out, was cake, and you can't beat the location, so i guess that's where the extra $$ went....but even still, i feel like the organizers in the food tent should really get their stuff together, and not make false promises.

This was my first roo and was satisfied with my VIP experience. I had been to other festivals in ga and knew I didn't want to be hiking 40 minutes every day back and forth so to me VIP was worth it just for the location alone (except maybe during kanye ). I felt the bathrooms were nice and well attended. I never really had to wait in line for them and they were for the most part relatively clean. The showers were very hit or miss. One time I had no water pressure at all and they were always cold at least for us men so I heard. Still after being in the sun the cold shower wasn't bad especially on my sunburnt body. The food also was very hit or miss and they should have had more selection but it was still edible. Like the rest of you I was a little disappointed with the lack of discounted beverages that we were all expecting to have in the hospitality tents but oh well. I brought in plenty anyway. All in all a solid VIP experience and an amazing time at my first roo. Hope to be back next year and will do VIP again just for the location alone and ease of getting into centeroo and the what stage.

Aw, you should have waited a bit- there weren't many up there braving the rain after while (but I was! Pirate hat and poncho!).
Actually, the Which stage bleachers were closer this year than in previous years. This year they brought them up more in line with the first tree, where in year's past they were back quite a bit, closer to the bobbles. It still wasn't super close, but it was better. I've watched two Death Cab shows now from those bleachers!
I liked the mound, but also bemoaned the lack of bathrooms.
This was my 3rd straight year as a VIPer. I won't go back to Roo without VIP tickets. It's the only way to go for me. The only thing I can truly complain about is the fact that each year that I have gone back to VIP, they have expanded it. They expanded it to the point where the spot my campsite was in 2005 (BEYOND Tent Only at the time) is now considered VIP campground area. That sucks imo. I understand the bottom line, but at some point (next year!) they won't be able to expand it again without seriously watering down the experience. There were GA campsites that were closer than some of the VIP campsites. That's not treating a VIP like a VIP imo.
