Damn! I'd given up on Bear Creek coming back. I'm pretty sure I'll be there, although I haven't heard anything about it from Shimon, who ran it last year and I volunteered with. I'll have to check into that. I'm most likely there regardless though.

Sick man, that line up is just sick!! My funkybasslovin donkey will sure as hell be there. Suwanee is the BEST place in the SE for music. Camping in the shaded woods with the Suwanee river to cool off in. I am soo going to be here. Thanks for posting!!
For those that made it to last years bear creek, or any of the fests at suwannee music park, do they allow rvs? or in my case a pop up, or is it all tent camping? Personally I'm fine with either and would probably prefer the tent because it sounds like there is plenty of shade to sleep in the morning.

Thanks for the info
^^^ Suwanee has ample room for pop ups and RV's. It is in November so you won't have to worry so much about needing shade in the morning. It's much easier to sleep past 10am in November than at Wanee in April
If you want to stay away from the noise stay away from the open fields in the back. That is where the amazing drum circle / fire pit / belly dancing takes place each night after the late night sets. We all meet up there. That IS the Spirit of the Suwanee. It is BY FAR my favorite place for festivals. Hope to see you there. ;D
Um, Echo was great man, but I think a community bonfire and drum circle sounds pretty damn good!
Never been to a fest that allows campfires, and the absence of open flames puts a damper on my groove.
Also, I am not intimately familiar with ANY of the bands playing Bear Creek, wheras at B-Roo & Echo, I knew way TOO many and couldn't catch aquarter of them. To me, the fun in a fest is being able to relax, enjoy yourself, interact within your community, and discover new music. Bear Creek sounds like it would meet my expectations.
...and the puttputt and canoing are major bonus points.
Count us in for this fest if we can scrape together the dough.
"All in all, the creative act is not performed by the artist alone.. the spectator brings the work in contact with the external world by deciphering and interpreting its inner qualifications and thus adds his contribution to the creative act." -- Marcel Duchamp

^^^ I hope to see you there Jesset! You will have an amazing time and the community there can not be beat. We love the funk here in Florida and you will be introduced to some of the best acts around. Drum circles, campfires, late night jams, puttputt, and the big swing into the river are what Suwanee is all about. Get your ticket before July 15th to save $50 on each ticket. Peace n Love.

Ugh! I really want to go to this!!! It's only about 4 hours from here, and I'm not getting to go to any other festivals this year (and my b/f got to go to Roo thanks to Wooz)! I even got a sleeping bag for Christmas that I still haven't had a chance to use!
But, we are moving in November, so even though Bear Creek is relatively inexpensive, I can't see paying for all of the side expenses (two dogs to board, gas, etc.) plus paying for deposits on the new apartment and a moving van.
I've heard rumblings that George Clinton is going to be the Saturday night headliner. If that's true . . . I don't even know how to finish that sentence. We saw him in Atlanta (thanks to a very generous Inforooer), and it was one of the top 5 shows I've ever seen.
Take this with a grain of salt. I spoke to one of the guys doing promotion for Bear Creek at Broo. He said they expect to get Warrn Haynes solo as a headliner.

i think i'll be here. all depends on how much money i have. looks like an awesome time.
Dudes, If y'all want to go to Bear Creek without having to buy a ticket, and are willing to work during, before, or after the fest, I would recommend you do what I do and volunteer with Shimon Presents. I just checked and they don't have any volunteer info on their website yet, but they should soon. I worked with them at Bear Creek last year and All Good this year and it really added to my enjoyment of those fests. If you have any questions, I can probably help you out.

I just checked my email and Shimon Presents is now taking apps for The Bear Creek Work Exchange Team. You can volunteer to work before, during, or after the festival and not have to buy a ticket. I worked at this fest last year as a Stagehand, helping set up two stages, including unloading and setting up all sound equipment and lighting. Then this year at All Good, I worked in catering, so I was able to eat three free meals for two days while working, as well as covering my admission to the fest.
Last year at Bear Creek, we were given "All Access" credentials that allowed us to go backstage during the fest and some actually watched the shows from the stage itself, you could stand on the sides and back of the stage during shows. This didn't happen at All Good though, so I'm not sure whether it'll be that way at Bear Creek this year or not.
Here's a link to the sign-up page for Bear Creek, as well as Loki October 10-12 outside Asheville, NC (I'll be at that one too.) if anyone's interested in volunteering.
