^^^ I think you are overthinking it... what is the 1st song that popped into your head with no thought when you read the question? The song you always go back to...

wish you were here - pink floyd a day in the life - the beatles box of rain - grateful dead suite judy blue eyes - CSNY everyday - DMB Blue Sky - ABB fake plastic trees - radiohead black - pearl jam and this is really weird, and kinda newish as in i didnt loove it in highschool but: Plane - Jason Mraz (and if you th ink im nuts give it a listen and you'll understand.)
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
that is an excellent song, if you said that song was your favorite song of all time... i would not find a single fault in that.
Jason Mraz is alot more talented than people give him credit for. This is a prime example. It's too bad the only redeeming quality in his newest album was the title of the album...

word...every lyric, every sound everything about that song is perfect. i love to imagine what the song is about. i think its about a failed relationship, but remembering all the great parts of it, and all of the imagery is awesome. ahh i love that song
I'm gonna have to second this. The part right where the sonar sound ends and all this energy starts building up and is finally released, oooh and the cymbals during that... man its ear extacy.
I know it's probably not too terribly well known amongst people at this board, but "Starless" (not "Starless and Bible Black" as is often confused, though that is a great song as well) is seriously one of the best modern rock compositions I've ever heard.
Go check it out. Seriously.
Edit: not really a vid, but the song with a pic with it:
It continues with a link to part two which should be easy to find. Fantastic song. Probably my favorite song of all time. And that is saying ALLOT.
All Along the Watchtower (the Hendrix version) Could You Be Loved - Bob Marley Happiness is a Warm Gun - The Beatles (I know you'll probably say they have better, but that song is farking amazing.....)

Ya! It's very hard for a music lover to pick just one-thats whats interesting.
What made me think of asking it was I was watching the coachella pig launch (which was supposed to have never been actually 'launched') Ha! They offered a huge reward to whoever found it and it landed in these people's yard. Can you imagine seeing that in your yard first thing waking up?
Anyway-The entire show is on there recorded pretty much by the same person. So Breathe came on..and I knew that had to be my fave (lyrical) song-even though its a little bit of a downer-heh-but sometimes so true to life
