I was told by one of the 4 from Superfly that there is tentatively a Christian music festival on tap, a country and classic rock (together) fest and a boat show.
He didn't indicate that these were on the same scale as Bonnaroo.
He also said some one-off concerts were possibilities. I would say that this is probable since the only local (Nashville) outdoor venue is gone now.
I could see some sort of motocross or something too.
I'm not making this up.
This is great as it just means more side-work for me and anyone else who lives around here.
I had heard that they were going to try to get a Country fest going out there...and that makes sense as close as it is to Nashville...so does the Christian music thing since most Contemporary Christian artists are also based out of Nashville....
That's gonna be one honkin' wedding dancer! ;D But the pix will be AWESOME!!

I don't want to be negative, nor am I "in the know" in any way but the Farm Aid rumour is nearly as old as the MTV owns Bonnaroo or the theme park myths. I was told about the possible Christian Music Fest directly, though in idle conversation, by one of the four owners (RF) of Bonnaroo/Great Stage Park. He also mentioned a possible boatshow and possible country/classic rock show. I would love Farm Aid but why would they move it?
well, i've only been to farm aid once and it was in columbus, ohio.
but my impression is that they move it to some place different every year. so even if they had it in manchester, it wouldn't be an every year thing like bonnaroo.

Actually, I can't see a Country Music Festival in Manchester especially since there's already one in Nashville that goes on the week before Bonnaroo. A Christian Music Festival would interesting. I couldn't see them selling alcohol to an event that promoted Jesus Christ or allow anyone to engage in any kind of act that would be contrary to teachings from the Bible.
I wonder how that would work. It's almost like the Bible U.S.A. themepark they were going to build up in Murfreesboro. At a place where everyone is invited, how would they be able to make sure everyone has that spiritual experience that something like that would be intended for?

Dude, Farm Aid is not held in the same place every year. I can assure you there is a reason why Willie Nelson was at this year's Bonnaroo and it wasn't just so he could perform at 'Roo. Superfly has been courting Farm Aid for some time. They haven't been able to actually land the event, but they have landed a couple of their organizers--Dave Matthews and Willie Nelson being the two that I know of.
Just in case you are interested, here is a link to where every past Farm Aid was held:
You know, if they hold a Christian gathering there it would be absolutely hysterical if there were hippies standing out front with signs saying....find the path to the weed...Repent, hedonism is the way!.
Also, I find it interesting that here we have this bonnaroo that is absolutely hedonistic to some sort and then in the very same ground they are going to put a Christian concert. I have nothing against Christianity or anything, I just find it interesting.
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!

Dude, I guess I am just an idiot then. Using your convoluted logic, I suppose that Led Zeppelin is playing next year, never mind that one of the ex members "scouted it out" last year. I suppose there is going to be a gigantic bluegrass fest because Allison Krauss has scouted, country fest cause Emyllou Harris scouted, Full House reunion cause the Olsens were there, Rap fest because Cypress Hill, Kanye, De La Soul, J5 etc... has scouted.
Oh, the theme park rumour MUST be true because they had a ferris wheel for the last two years.

My bet would be that they will move the CMA's within a year or two. It'd save on stage setup costs, and it'll eliminate the clusterfuck that happens in Nashville every year. Much like the Stagecoach festival that runs on the Coachella grounds.
