In response to the first post. Every year we get a thread or two about gay people looking to hang out with other gay people. So I know there are several people that are "out" (I hate that term but buddies say it's cool) on the board. So I'm sure you might get a PM or two about it. If I remember I'll ask my friend about a website that helps gay people get together at big events such as this. It's actually for finding gay friendly shops and bar in big cities but he said that a roo thread showed up a few years ago. If I remember that is, every time I hang out with Jeff the drinking starts. I would suggest have the brunch earlier on in the weekend maybe Thursday or Friday this way you can meet new friends and hang during the fest. The meet-ups always happen that way and go well. I've run into several people through out the board that way. Good luck
it's cool mikede. That wasn't all that stereotypical. It actually seemed like solid advice, and it did seem like maybe you didn't know about the arcade? Gays usually know where the party is at, and are usually really easy to get along with, and most would even give up shirt from their own back. I doubt i will stumble into the arcade or anything, but it would be fun to hang out with some mo's for a bit, hoist somethin up and feed off their vibes, which, from my experience, is usually never without a smile or some sort of uplifing possitive attitude.
Straight, but i wanted to stop by this thread for uh big, "hayyyy!"

*feels fabulous*
carry on!
Geez.
I'm straight, but even I find this offensive.
Right. That one post may not have been stereotypical, but this sure as Hell was. I cant see any Roo Gays being THAT kind of gay.

You're a dirtbag. But I'm sure I'd play that role if I stumbled upon a gay brunch. What sraight guy wouldn't?

ok, so im a homophobic homosexual . . . lol
Ha!
Regardless -- portraying gay men as happy go lucky disco fiends who are perpetually smiling, is only mildly less offensive than some of the more hateful stereotypes. Then tacking on the "hayyyy" and "*feels fabulous*" thing just adds insult to injury.
If you want to gay bash and or make fun of stereotypes do it some place else. Not. Here. I will not stand by and let ANYONE get trashed. I don't care if you just mean it to be a joke. I don't care if you have friends who are gay and they are cool with the jokes. I will not tolerate it in my personal life and I damn sure won't tolerate it here. So knock it off. If you want to continue this stream of garbage so be it. I'll start swinging the banhammer. This is will not be allowed.
Lighten up Francis. The Pious One And if you were really concerned agout stereotypes you would change your screen name. For the Drugs do work and they have made you paranoid.

At risk of being unpopular, I cant help but point out the seemingly hypocritcal fact that intolerance and sterotyping/bashing are not tolerated in this thread (in regards to homosexuals) however it is open season in other threads related to Jesus, religion in general, or politics...
"They won't break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then that we will see the rising of the moon."
look gay bashing is horrible. I just today got approved at my large company for the first time partner benefits. A historic policy change that impacts 100;s of gay lesbian staff members in my institution, I made a joke about Cher for GOd's sakes. A joke that if any of you were more familiar with the population they would laugh at also. So again lighten up moderator and at least better understand the population you think you are protecting. Obviosuly you get your grins from your moderator power trip and removing my karma. And you think I am a problem..... give me a break, You can remove some more in ahour if it makes you feel better,
the mod gods dont have to wait an hour. satan gives them unlimited karma all the time!!!!!!! its one of the benfits of trading your soul to the dark one in exchange for inforoo power!!!!
nobody should be laughing at the cher comment. why is that a joke and funny to people? i have seen her numerous times and i think she would be a great addition to roo. plenty of material and would make for a very cool late night show. maybe some interesting guest appearances.

well there is several hunderd threads about roo for your roo reading enjoyment. no one has to click on the links for other discussions. but i was kidding about that subject matter. it seemed to fit dmbfans description of the prefect forum topics is all.

I love you, dude. I gave you a karma earlier and I'm about to give you another.
Actually, you're one I'd like to meet up with (the other...well...). I'm pretty curious. You seem to have everyone's best interest at heart, and I think you were an old deadhead, so yeah.
We'll have to get it together. I have a feeling you're down for the stick throwing during the Police, too. Have faith, my good man. I do.
i look forward to it!! we should get an inforooer glowstick meetup before the show. non glowstickers welcome too if they dont mind the glows. i am always down to meet some kind people and share some good times!!!!
I just pretty much try to spread the good feeling, I'm most at home in a party, and Bonnaroo's the year's biggest party.
For all the bullshit, whenever everyone gets on the festival site, who seriously has time to be angry? As much as I know people might have their differences being stuck together for four days, Bonnaroo changes all the rules. I can't imagine anyone continuing any of these tiffs we've had on the boards so far.
I will have to say this. I am 40 and this will be my 4th Roo with my boyfriend of 9 years. I am gay and never thought any of this banter was offensive. I have found that most of all the people at Roo are very tolerant to most things. I have never worried about being gay at Roo. We are very "straight acting" and most people never consider us gay, we usually have to tell people... we are gay. So if any other gays want to meet up and party with us we are up with it. Hell, I just want to party with anyone when I am there. Heres to another great Roo no matter what your sexual orientation, race or what ever. Enjoy and have fun thats what this is about.
so whats the plan?? are we having brunch? I think friday, in tent-only camp inforoo would be a good time. We can hang a sign that says "welcome humans" and see how many people stop in...
"White collar conservative flashin down the street, pointing that plastic finger at me, they all assume my kind will drop and die, but I'm gonna wave my freak flag high." Jimi Hendrix
I'm not gay, but I have to say, I found this thread a humorous read. Especially when all the "expert" heterosexuals told the gay men how to find themselves at Bonnaroo. Heh.
For the most part, I couldn't pick a gay man out of the lineup. But my fratboy douchebag radar works just fine...
On a completely unrelated note, I just discovered a great Oliver Nelson album hidden away, neglected on my itunes, The Blues and the Abstract Truth. Great stuff.

I never said you were the problem. I wasn't singling out any one persons post. I didn't like where the thread was going. If I had that much of a problem with your post I'd of sent you a personal message. I wasn't the one to mess with your karma either, if I wanted to piss you off I'd drink all your beer. Oh yeah and my name on the board isn't what you think. I took it from the song "The Drugs Don't Work," but when I was growing up I did all kinds of drugs and all it got me was jacked up. So I know they do work. It's been a while since I've done anything like that.
