This has turned into exactly what I was afraid it would turn into.
This turned into exactly what i knew it would, and i imagine the op had to know. As for the arcade comment, maybe he saw guys holding hands and making out or something in the arcade. Thats my gaydar right there, when i see two guys making out, i get a feeling they may be gay. ;D
"As for the arcade comment, maybe he saw guys holding hands and making out or something in the arcade. "
I have lived in New York City for 9 years. I went to NYU, a bastion of homosexuality. I used to go all these CRAZY night clubs all the time which are WELL represented by the gay population. I work at two night clubs currently. I am friends with gays, queens, transgender people, boy cunts and all other "genres" of homosexuals that may exist. Needless to say, my gaydar is well calibrated and I have the credentials to back that up.
I was truly trying to make a helpful suggestion to gay people who may be looking to find other gay people at Bonnaroo. I find it humorous that my comment sparked a debate.
To reiterate, if one were to go to the Arcade Disco late at night, one would observe a higher concentration of easily identifiable gay people than in the rest of the festival.
Fact.
If you find this offensive, you need to need to lighten up.
Wow, this really caught on fire since I last posted.
My quick $.02: If you are gay, you are gay. Like most things in life, it comes down to opinion and preference. Some think sex with the same sex is better. Some thing red is the coolest color. Some like Pearl Jam.
Others don't. It's a matter of tolerating others opinions and cornerstones. You don't have to like it, or respect it, but you have to let them live with their choices. If their choice in intolerance, be the bigger person. Let their ignorance be their downfall.
That being said, I didn't interpret anything said on this topic as being a direct stab at anyone or any lifestyle. I saw the correlation, undoubtedly, but I don't think it was intended as a blatant insult, but more so as a joke. That, however, is just my take.
And back to the subject at hand, if there is a brunch of any sort, I'll willingly participate
sounds good to me boomerang! I LOVE the strawberry milkshake kind! I have this camp skillet thing, so we could do pancakes or french toast, and bacon, maybe some eggs, and mimosa's, i'll sneak in the champagne!!!

We are bringing fruit cups - can I bring those (and no - to anyone that wants to take that the wrong way) I am dead serious - I think brunch is a cool idea!

Haha... I'd totally be there if there was a brunch. What I don't get is why like... non-religious folks have anything against that (Well I was raised a friggin southern baptist, but consider myself a Primitive Baptist Universalist, which is a small Appalachian religion that not many folks know of, but I've never had anything against gays), because it makes no sense to go around going "Hey, that guy has a nose" or "look at that mother****er with three fingers!!!" People make a big deal out of everything. I don't like to bring religion into anything, though... but I mean, have some respect and moral for other people. They're just doing the same thing you are. They probably don't think too kindly of you either, but that doesn't mean people have to run their mouths all the time.
But.. whatever.
Anyway, I'd be there because... well, I've had plenty of gay friends who make good conversation and have an interesting perspective on things, plus my favorite author (since before RWS) is Augusten Burroughs, and my mother's best friend was gay... plus, everyone should be allowed to enjoy themselves, and if it takes any extra help and I have nothing else to do, you can bet I'm there.
When they come to take you down When they bring that wagon round When they come to call on you and drag your poor body down Just one thing I ask of you, just one thing for me Please forget you know my name, my darling sugaree Shake it, shake it sugaree, just dont tell them that you know me

i used to be very openly gay and pretty proud of it, then me and my girlfriend got gay bashed at the park for holding hands in public..
this lady cused us and threatened us..
we never really have held hands in public or anything every since that day..
if we go to bonnaroo together and get gay bashed, out of all the places.. then there is no hope for regaining my gay pride.
That's horrible, I am sorry to hear it. I would not expect anything like that at Bonnaroo. You should move to DC, I see more same sex couples holding hands than regular plain old hetro hand holding.
i live in knoxville, and other than the occasional gay hatin`, racist, rednecks.. ( no offense to rednecks, but you know what i mean.. lol) .. there arent very many gay bashers.
but, it still makes me a little skeptical about wether i want to go around sporting my gay pride, for the fear of someone threatening my life again.. but the b^tch did seem a little crazy.
but anyways, this will be my first year at the roo, and i`m kinda nervous, lol..( i know, im lame, dont make fun) , but i just hope to meet alot of cool new people and pick up on some new good music.. but i definately think the brunch thing is a good idea, and if it ends up happening, then i would definately stop by and i hope to see some of you there. :]
