you can download almost everything from the 90s. Everything after 2000 is available on livephish.com so it's not listed here. Also, no official releases are listed here, but you will find no better place to download phish in mp3 format.
"Best Phish show?"
It's really a matter of semantics, but most hail 12/31/95 as their best show ever.
yup, my only problem with it is that the tagging is very sporadic and non-uniform. But most of them have .txt files if they are untagged. I spent thousands of dollars and thousands of hours of time collecting the majority of the shows in cassette tape, which I still have, so it's nice to have a place to snag those shows whenever I want to get them in digital format.

I'm a fan of their new years bash at big cypress 12/31/99
Meatstick -> Auld Lang Syne, Down with Disease -> Llama, Bathtub Gin, Heavy Things, Twist -> Prince Caspian > Rock and Roll, You Enjoy Myself, Crosseyed and Painless, The Inlaw Josie Wales, Sand -> Quadrophonic Toppling, Slave to the Traffic Light, Albuquerque, Reba, Axilla, Uncle Pen, David Bowie, My Soul, Drowned -> After Midnight Reprise, The Horse > Silent in the Morning, Bittersweet Motel, Piper -> Free, Lawn Boy, HYHU > Love You > HYHU, Roses are Free, Bug, Also Sprach Zarathustra > Wading in the Velvet Sea, Meatstick
In case anybody was wondering, that's what a 7 hour show looks like
Phish in no way would play Rothbury. Its not built to handle the crowd or the fan base. You will see Phish at Deer Creek and at Alpine Valley. The roo is the only fest that is big enough to handle the boys.
Jazzfest is not happening either...
I do wish Phish was playing all these fest being a diehard but it will never happen.

that was my son's 1st birthday!! I love the Gin and AC/DC Bag from that show (the Bag is a MONSTER!), but can't really say it's even the best of that tour. Personally I think Ventura, Alpine Valley, Vernon Downs, Kansas City, and the night before at Merriwether are better. But, I can't deny the epicness that ensued during that encore.
i've played that encore before for friends who are unfamiliar with phish, and many don't realize it's not the Grateful Dead.

I'm a bit partial to Va Beach. This was the only show I saw that summer other than Lemonwheel. I got lucky. It was one of those shows that just kept on giving. I think my heart stopped when they busted into Terrepin. ;D

its nice to listen to tapes on occassion. i dont have any but i know someone who does and they were cool to listen to. retro sound if you know what i mean. i like how colorado 88 has the tape sound to it on cd.

I should probably send you a few. I rarely listen to them anymore. In 99 I started building a digital music collection in CDR format, then around the time of Bonnaroo, everything flipped to digital in SHN/FLAC/MP3 and now i have built a huge database of music in those formats. I have so much music i never listen to, on tape, in cdr, and mp3. Seriously. I have been obsessive about music collecting since I first discovered the Dead in 94, and Bonnaroo only made it worse.
Send me a PM YEM and I'll mail you a few PH tapes that I wore the F out.
F*CK Bob Lefsetz. This is the same guy who basically spread the (untrue) rumor that Zeppelin would play Bonnaroo. Now, a year later, he is ranting how Phish is too good for Bonnaroo.
Let me get this straight, a re-united LED ZEPPELIN is fine for Bonnaroo 2008, but a re-united PHISH is too good for Bonnaroo 2009? What a c*ck-snot that mother f*cker that guy is. Phish is my favorite band *ever*, and that rant is pure lunacy from my perspecetive, especially after what he did to us Bonnaroo fans last year.
If Inforoo-ers could hold onto the ultra unrealistic hope of Zeppelin last year, Rothburites can certainly hold out hope for Phish. I say, let's not rain on their parade.

I'm not raining on their parade, I just don't want people on this board to think that Phish is going to play Rothbury this summer, only to have their hopes completely dashed.
I read the phish boards pretty regularly, and there are zero Rothbury rumors. The rumors for this summer are as follows: Bonnaroo. A midwest/Southwest run post-Bonnaroo. Alpine Valley on 6/26-27. Deer Creek most likely after but possibly before. A short break in July with Red Rocks at the end of July. Shoreline and the Gorge to follow. Miami rumors have also surfaced. Most of these will be double, triple, and possibly quadruple night runs at the same venue. But there are no Rothbury rumors, and this is because there IS a Bonnaroo rumor. Phish doesn't play festivals. They just don't. Unless they go to Europe, or somewhere overseas, the chance that they play 2 festivals in one summer are slim to none.
Also, if the Bonnaroo rumor pans out, which it now sounds extremely likely that it will, you can GUARANTEE that Superfly tagged a clause in the contract preventing Phish from playing another festival in North America this summer. And they'd be fine with that, b/c they wouldn't need to play another festival this summer, if they do, indeed, play Bonnaroo.
At no point in that post did I find anything he had to say to have real merit other than the idea that some Phish fans will be pissed that they have to go to Bonnaroo to see Phish play.
The whole bit about festivals killing artists ability to tour...I'm calling massive utter bullshit. In fact, I'd argue it's quite the opposite. Where would Ghostland Observatory be without music festivals? Did Bonnaroo hurt the touring reps of Radiohead and The Police? I guess Tom Petty couldn't find a venue to play after he headlined a night in 06?
Further, Jack Johnson half assing it on records is what makes him Jack Johnson, not the fact he plagued every festival last summer. If every record he released were as good as Brushfire Fairytales, people would not complain. Because nobody seemed to care that Radiohead played three major festivals...

I think I'm the only person praying Phish doesn't show up at Roo. >.>
No offense to Phish phans, of course, I don't mind Phish and I'd be happy for you. HOWEVER, I don't have the money right now for early bird tickets, and even if I did, the friends I'm going with want to wait until the lineup is announced before they order.
So, if Phish is on the lineup, tickets will sell out almost immediately, and I won't be able to go for the second year in a row.
I'm hoping this turns out like Led Zeppelin last year...
don't worry, I think with ticket prices what they are, AND with phish on the bill, Bonnaroo will try to sell as many tickets as they can, and will leave tickets on sale as it approaches the 90,000 or 100,000 mark. They didn't do nearly as well as they would have liked with ticket sales last year, and if they did get phish they shelled out cash to do it. So they would need to make up for both. I think Phish could sell out the festival, but I also think that many of the fans who attended the Phish fests of old are now 30-somethings, and the idea of travelling to Tennessee for something other than the Phish fests is not something they consider lightly. The x-factor is how many new fans there are, and from reading this thread alone, It's possible there are alot.

ive been the same way since i discovered phish my freshman year of college 1998. idk why i didnt give them a chance earlier as some of my friends listened to them. going to school an hour outside albany, cobleskill/oneonta, was nice as it is a hotbed for phish. i was reminded how awesome the albany shows were at the trey show at the palace. i got a external hard drive last year for christmas which is awesome cause now i can have everything in one place rather than download, convert to dats and delete. i have to make a list of what i actually have now and go through and highlight some more in the phish companion what i have,
I'm one of those 30-somethings that went to the Phish fests of old. The thought of them playing Bonnaroo actually has me pretty excited. I'm still undecided about my return to Roo, but if Phish is playing, I wouldn't miss it. That's not to say that I wouldn't love for them to do their own fest too.

I've chosen not to respond to posts concerning rothbury and phish up until now because i really don't care to get into that discussion BUT... there have been rumors about phish and rothbury making their way around the internet quite recently.
for example on november 29th, mr miner posted:
SUMMER ‘09 RUMOR MILL:
With so much excitement in the air around next summer, the rumors continue to roll in. I have heard a few new things recently. First, expect a month long tour mostly in June, including two nights at Alpine at the end of the month (6/25 & 6/26?). An appearance at the mega-sized Rothbury Festival in Michigan seems like it will compliment the band’s slot at Bonnaroo. Obviously, rumors are just rumors until we see dates on Phish.com, but to summarize what has been reported :
Not to nitpick as I know they're rumors and guesses as is, but Rothbury is on the 4th of July so some reporting got messed up there if they're going to be at Red Rocks & Rothbury around the same time.
I doubt Phish would be at Rothbury, as they're almost too big for it - unless it drastically increases its size. I mean, maybe if they were the only headliner (and most of the Rothbury crowd wouldn't mind that - it's more of a Phish festival than Bonnaroo is now).
