Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Also, I was wondering if someone could tell me which of their two sets to attend assuming they have a headliner slot and a latenight?
I would suggest waiting until the schedule comes out and see if there's a conflict with their latenight that you'd rather see. If there isn't, then their latenight show will surely be the one to catch I'd say. It will likely go into all hours of the morning.
He hasn't gotten banned cause he's right. Dude is a troll. But one that we just tolerate for the most part. I think we should all know by now to just ignore his incessant blathering about the downfall of Roo. It's amusing sometimes, but the majority of the time it's just annoying and unnecessary.
I'm sorry. I haven't seen Dude personally insulting anyone on the board.
You obviously didn't see the thread where he kept posting Big Gay al pics and calling me "silly stallion," basically calling me a f@g. I don't really care, but I thought gay bashing wasn't allowed on Inforoo.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

^^I feel like it would just make more sense for them to give a slot similar to Kanye's last year. I don't think it would take Phish nearly as long to set up the What Stage, as even though they have an incredible light show it's not nearly as complicated and involved as Kanye's stage setup so it would be much easier to get going on time, regardless of when the headliner that night ended their show. Two headlining slots of Phish, with nothing else going on during either of their shows has shown to be a bit much for the crowd that pushes for diversity and options at Roo.
Plus, I just feel that with their first show back in the festival scene they would love for the opportunity to play all night and into the morning hours. Unless one of the nights they have the headlining slot and simply play forever on the What Stage... which would be ridiculous and not likely at all...
And just for the record I don't think I'm the only one who agrees that the only thing more redundant than Dude's posts are the numerous negative responses to his posts calling him an idiotic moron and the like. This is a Bonnaroo forum, so expect different opinions on the festival, including negative and criticisms. This is not a hippie forum, so there's really no excuse for hippie bashing. But that's just my take on it. I'm more interested in criticisms of Bonnaroo than I am criticism of a particular member of the boards, or of hippies in general.

Well said. I'd give you karma, but I'd hate to ever take that lovely number away from you.
On the issue of two nights headlining versus one headlining and one latenight slot, I tend to think they will be Saturday and Sunday night headliners. It only seams right to me that they get to close out the festival.
I think Phish's status is such that they can pretty much dictate when, where, and for how long they will play. I also think if Phish wants to play other festivals, they will and Bonnaroo won't try to stop them.
As far as festival promoters are concerned this year, Phish has all the toys. If anyone wants to play, they play by Phish's rules.
I'd also be careful about looking at what Phish has done in the past to indicate what they will do in the future. They have been away for awhile, I'm sure they will want to do some things differently. Unless you're in their organization, you really don't know what they are planning for the summer.
This isn't a Phish Phan ranting. It's just they way I see it.

If they were to do a headlining set/late-night would it be two separate nights, or would they stop around one, than say come back in an hour and a half for another two sets?

It's really anybody's guess at this point. But, considering that they haven't played together in a while, I'd say them playing it all in one night seems unlikely.

I think the use of the main stage late night was a special exception, and I do not think we will see them attempt to repeat it. I know the idea of Phish playing til sunrise is tempting . . . but on the other hand, it will leave everyone absolutely exhausted their 2nd set on Sunday.
And I think it is one thing for people to have opinions and criticisms. I'm usually one of the first to be critical, start an argument, or complain about something. But it is entirely different when someone comes to a message board simply for the purpose of trolling. I've already enumerated many of the reasons I feel this way, and I do not want to belabor the point. I value every member of this community, even if their opinion differs from mine. But I do not care for people who use communities like this to troll around.

This will all seem moot if Phish ends up not playing...but does this mean no Phil Lesh & friends? Their set was great last year (although cut short). Also, who do you think will join Phish on stage (any special guests)?

i dont see phish closing out sunday night unless they ended at midnight or one. otherwise, that performance would run until the wee hours and keep too many people on the farm. usually, there is a mass exodus sunday night...with phish playing, im sure folks would leave, but not as many. i would imagine huge problems for those wanting to exit the farm...

Sunday night shows always end around midnight. Last year WSP was scheduled from 8:45-11:30 and maybe went as late as 12:30.
There are problems for people wanting to leave on Sunday regardless of who is playing. I've never left early but sometimes people in my group do - you just gotta move other people's tents and shit - its sucks but you gotta do what you gotta do.

That's a really good point I hadn't thought of. I have always left early on Sunday night because I have to work on Monday, but if Phish were playing, I would stay until the end......

I would definitely bet money that Phil & Friends are not on the lineup this year. That doesn't mean it's not possible for Phil to make a guest appearance on the farm though. Or, maybe the unbelievable is gonna happen and we'll get Phish and The Dead. That would be the bewbs

very good point indeed. however i feel that a good festival would want people to stick around the whole weekend regardless of how traffic issues would result afterwards. i feel if bonnaroo needs to improve anywhere it is entering and exiting the festival grounds. that area is what tends to put me in the grouchy mood more so than any crowd of person the festival may or may not bring. they wouldnt even let the line to leave the fest out this year until 10pm sunday, while the real reason behind that was supposedly to not heavily interefere with the state's traffic, it also silently hints at the fact they want us to stay for Sunday's headliner.
Panic never really does anything for me which is why i left early in 07 and 08, but Phil Lesh's closing set in 06 is one of my favorite bonnaroo shows to date. i feel the jamheadliner on sunday just kinda sums up the spirit of the festival and leaves a great lasting impression. i may sound like a hypocrit cause i left early 2 out of my 3 years, but i know for the other several thousand folks that love Panic, they would get what i'm sayin.
fri headliner-Tom Petty, Tool, Metallica are nice surprising treats that kick off the fest with huge energy. Sat headliner- Radiohead, The Police, and Pearl Jam are the reasons and reputations we should pay close to $300 and have a party on the farm. Sunday headliner- Phil Lesh and Widespread are what reminds us of where Bonnaroo originated and pays respect to the jamband-hippie scene that started the greatness. Phish seems to fit the categories of all three, but namely saturday and sunday IMO.
these are just my flawed opinions, and nevertheless idioteque you make a very valid point. if phish is on the bill and they get two shows, itll be very interesting to see what will happen regardless.
I always slept till like noon on monday, in 07 tho my flight wasnt leaving till like 4 but then got pushed back till like 7something, it was terribel. Only good part was joe russo and the flight of the conchord dudes were on my plane.
I tend to stay the night there is no reason to try and drive home and worry about the po po and whatnot. by 10:00 am monday I am usually more or less back to normal.

WSP last year stopped playing at exactly. I looked at my watch as the fireworks were going on and it was 11:59. I'm sure that has something to do with permits and whatnot.

My prediction is a Phish regular headline slot Friday night, 3 hours or so, a set list that's on the more accessible to hook the newbies (maybe some covers) and a performance that will leave all sayin' holy sht im can't wait for tomorow night. Saturday late night will be epic jammed out face-melting glory with guest appearances and endless jams until the sun comes up.
