I'd just like to say it's one thing to say that people who get busted knew what they were doing could get them in trouble and should be prepared to pay the price, and quite another to take pleasure in it when it happens.

For those new to Phish my first advise is do not judge a show by the recording you listen to later. The recordings, no matter how great the show, cannot convey the full inpact of the live show. For example you can listen to the Wilson from day 3 and hear everything but untill you have been there and felt (not heard) the Wilson chant and the look of elation on all those around you can't fully grok it. This live experience totaly taints your relationship to the music such that no matter when you hear it at a later time the feelings and emotions from your memory come out. This to me is the big deal with Phish and the same with the Dead. Although with no Jerry we cannot have the rediculous level of hippy love outpouring that was bestowed upon him and the Dead. But at least Phish is back.
Basically I'm just saying if the downloads don't suck you in please don't write them off till you have experienced the show with more than 14,000 people yelling in sync "Can I Live while I'm Young" as the audiance is truly the special sauce of a Phish show.
dude. that was probably one of the highlights of the night for me, honestly.
I just remember standing there listening to the guitar rise during 2001 and everyone in the coliseum's hands are in the air, some people on their toes cause the music brought them that high, and then just like that the music dropped the funk and everyone got down and grooved. And then it happened again. and again. and again...
I really don't want to make an account at the Phish website, but does anyone know where I could download all three nights elsewhere?
Why not? Sure you have to provide your email address, but at least you know you're getting the real deal. Plus it's a very fast DL.
yea dude you won't get any more emails from them at all. If it really sketches you out, just make a random gmail or yahoo email account and use that. It's totally worth it, and will be better, or at worst equal to anything you find elsewhere. And it takes approximately 29 seconds to register on that site

^THIS! honestly, you feel it in your chest, there's a vibration. i wish we were making that up... but we aren't
wow i go to class for the day and come back to 2 whole pages of intense debate. doesn't seem like i missed much though. and here's something from the one and only Phish..... enjoy!
oh and you know there bringing this to the farm! i know some of you aren't excited about the trampolines. but i for one am incredibly excited to see this. lets hope they bring it out during the latenight while im up front with my thousands of balloons and glowsticks.
"Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man's original virtue. It is through disobedience and rebellion that progress has been made." Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900), The Soul of Man Under Socialism
"You're either on the bus or off the bus." Ken Kesey
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Hunter S. Thompson
Thats a pretty poor way of putting it. Its not like Phish wanted to put people in jail. It was a part of the contract they worked out with the city. To say someone should thank the band for being arrested is pretty much retarded. The only thing the band explicitly tried to get cracked down on was illegal merchandise.
Hmmm - so you have an inside line with the band and you know that for sure? The fact is - the band paid for the police and the police did their job - whether it was to crack down on illegal merchandise or not - they also cracked down on illegal substances - so - Phish paid for people to get busted - plain and simple.
I know this is way, way, way, way, way old, but I really feel the need to comment on it, as I wasn't around the board for a few days..
Meg, this is an awful way of putting it. Just terrible. Phish payed for a police presence (which is not uncommon for large bands to do, btw) because they knew for a fact that those shows were going to be completely insane as far as ticketless people, fake tickets, logistics, crowd control, and yes, even druqs go.
But to say that so smarmy like you know why the police were there and you know Phish wanted to bust heads, is, well, shocking to me. The fact you'd come in here to basically rub it in peoples' faces saying to the effect of "Well, there's your hippie band for you! Bunch of narcs, if you ask me!" is really off putting, especially for you. I like you, I've always liked you, and yeah I'll continue to like you, but the lack of respect and even real truth in your post make me shake my head a little.

WOW! this thread took a turn for the worse. i skipped a few pages to post this so i dunno the current state it is is, but wow... heres my 2 cents
I am very, very pro "word that shall not be named", im sure some of you have realized this I personally believe ALL chemicals should be legalized, yes even the hardest shit out there including heroine. I think it should be legal and STRICTLY regulated, all chemicals. I know this is a radical viewpoint but it is what it is, people will do what they please regardless of legality, and most people wont go shooting up heroine the day it becomes legal.
THAT BEING SAID, you getting arrested @ Phish for whatever you had IS YOUR FAULT, not anyone elses including the police or the people who paid for the police presence. YOU KNOW ITS ILLEGAL, dont put it out in the open. its really not that hard to do....

My first show they opened with YEM with the trampolines. I'm definitely excited to see it again.
i just have to say i'm very upset i wasn't at hampton, after i got tickets to 3 local shows and bonnaroo i didn't feel as bad i wasn't going. but after listening i really really wish i was there, the setlists were pretty close to perfect.
lol, I'm probably the only person around here who's happy for the police. ;D
I love Phish, but I am anti-druqs. I don't want to relish anyone's misfortune of being arrested, but I won't feel sorry for them either because they got what they deserved.
Sounds pretty ignorant to me. Good luck with that. I sure as heck hope you don't drink alcohol or take any kind of prescription medication. That would be hypocritical.
