Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Sadly, there are two big reasons that 'Roo just can't happen this year:
1). School. In order for me to graduate college on time (May 2010) I have to take a full summer semester. Summer semesters, as many of you know, are more concentrated because they are shorter, and therefore you are often missing quite a lot by missing class. To go to 'Roo, I would have to definitely miss Thursday and Friday classes and probably Monday. I'm already missing school to go to two family weddings and on a family vacation. I could also come on Friday and leave on Sunday so I only miss one class, but then I would be missing a lot of great Roo-age, not to mention not getting my money's worth. Which leads me to my second prohibitive circumstance....
2) Money. I have absolutely none. My parents have supported me for the most part through college but are hurting a lot financially right now due to the economy so I am having to contribute much more than I have in the past. The money from my part-time job is going to pay my bills and the other traveling I'm doing this summer and there won't be much left over. I would feel guilty using money towards 'Roo (which is definitely not just the ticket, last year I probably spent over $1000 total and that was trying to be frugal) when it could be going towards something more important like my rent.
So it looks like I won't be there, friends. I am trying to get into that mindset now so when the lineup comes out my heart doesn't shatter all over the place. I am going to be really jealous of all of you down there, but I know that this year it just isn't the right choice for me. My great boyfriend, who saw how disappointed I was when I came to this conclusion, promised next year's ticket will be a birthday or Christmas gift, and I won't be in school so the timing will be better. So see you in 2010!

Bummer. With such a nice smile in your pic there, it's hard to imagine you looking so sad. Good luck with school and all though... You'll almost be done.
bummer. I was gonna take summer classes so I can graduate in time also but I decided to just say fuck it, the economy sucks anyway I'll stay in school. I gotta hold back on bisco tour this winter/spring so I can afford roo (if phish becomes fact).
Sorry you won't be able to make it, herecomesthesun! Look at it this way: Bonnaroo will be there next year when you are graduate, so take this summer to focus on school. Good luck!

i am also struggling with this. Last year was my first Roo and i saved everything i could to go to it. This year is a bit different; of course i want to go but Ive realized there are not as many people going, and the reason i got interested in Roo in the first place was bc of these people who arent/may not be going. ATM my plan is to attend Bisco bc its cheaper, closer and i know a few people who are deadset on going. Bisco is my bonnaroo of last year, im going regardless of whos playing or whatever else. Hopefully bonnaroo gets a sick lineup that gets all my friends to go and i have the extra dough to go. Too bad i dont have infinite free time and money.
Pepper, I know but you survived missing last year! Maybe we will finally be at a Roo together in 2010! Like jhointn said, it will still be there
lakai, I thought about this also but I have fallen head over heels with a boy that's graduating this May - a year before me - and if things work out, I don't want finishing school to be something that keeps us from being together. He's moving several hours away for a job right after he graduates, so its already going to be long distance for a while. Besides wanting to finish school on time, I also need to get in-state tuition to lessen the financial burden and taking summer classes is the easiest route to that.
candyflippedaround, you bring up another good point... my main Bonnabuddies are also not attending this year for financial/school-related reasons, so that takes a lot of the motivation out of it, since sharing it with them is a big part of the fun. Festies are so much more than the music - the experience, and the friends you have that experience with, is a huge factor, so I don't blame you for letting that be a deciding factor.
dasclyde, you're right, and I will probably try my hand at it, and I'll probably google "win Bonnaroo tickets" a few times too If I had free tickets, it would obviously be a big motivation to suck it up, take the time away from school and spend some dough on supplies & such. But even still, I can't exactly get my hopes up. I'd love to make it too, but its not just the ticket, its a lot more than that.

Yeah, definitely keep your eyes and ears open. I know from going through this last time around that cheap/free tickets are easier to come across than I would have thought. Last year when I had friends who were wavering I had at least two possibilities that would have resulted in a freebie - mostly cases where somebody was selling a pair for a price that would have been decent for one, so I could have bought the pair and sold the extra to pretty much make back the money.
I really have no idea what my plans are either. I'm graduating this year, so at Roo time with any luck I'll be just starting out in a new job. And I'm going to be in the same boat as last year as far as lack of people to go with. Last year I vowed that I would be there this year regardless, and if everything else worked out I'm thinking now I would still go through with that, but it is another complication. And as candyflippedaround said, more and more people seem to be deciding against it. The Inforoosters are a huge part of what makes me excited to get down there, and especially if I don't have any friends who will go with me, having good people there to meet up with is a big consideration. And I'm a total chicken, I don't have the guts to just show up with a sleeping bag and hope for the best; if I was going to go on my own I would want to have specific plans of who I was meeting up with and camping with and all.
BUT I'm just going to relax and not worry about it yet. Last year's mess taught me that I don't want to get stuck with a ticket and that they just get cheaper and cheaper if you wait anyway, so I'm not going to make any plans now. If the lineup is good, if I'm not tied to a job I can't take time off from, if I have people to go with or meet up with down there, it'll still happen. If not, Rothbury or something else is a possibility (I've got a friend in Michigan who wanted to go to Roo in 07 so if she could I'm sure she'd be up for Roth). And if none of that.....2010, here we all come!

i say those who want to...donate some money....and the mods...take that money....get as many tickets as they can.....split the rest of the money equaly to each ticket.....so say we got 4 tickets with 100 dollars to each.......bam.....raffle/game time........thing is.....only those who dont have a ticket/cant afford....can play that way people who are having a tough time, i.e. herecomesthesun with money still have a chance....now unfortunately shes got school.....lame.....but there are others here who could use it.......ill gladly put 50-100 down.....maybe another 100 after the christmas

Don't worry, I am 100% positive that by the end of May or so you will definitely have an opportunity to donate towards somebody's ticket on here. It happens every year.

I've been in the same boat with people bailing on me after hyping up their trip to Bonnaroo bigtime (and now face the same thing with MMJ's NYE show, which I may end up getting screwed over paying for extra beds in a hotel room) but still went to Bonnaroo with just my girlfriend and had a friggin blast. It's not worse going with less people, not better... just different. I'd go.

yes true...but if the collection started now.....then there would be a better chance for more than just one ticket

yes you can donate plasma with damn near anything in your veins.....no tatoos or piercings within so long....also no high blood pressure.....i got a buddy...oxy/heroine.....problems.....but he donates the plasma every week
Plasticpepper, my offer from last year still stands: you are more than welcome to camp with my Bonnacrew if your friends can't make it. We leave from nashville, so you'd just have to get here, then you could meet up with us. So far, we have 4 people lined up for our crew. We'd welcome more!
If anyone is starting a new job after graduation, it's PC to let them know during the interview or when you accept the job that you have a trip/vacation planned for certain days coming up shortly after you start. I did it with my first job (I had tickets for a show in Atlanta three weeks after my first day) and I let them know up front I would be out that day. It was unpaid, and I was ok with that. Most companies are cool with you taking that time off (usually unpaid) as long as they know upfront... so not all hope is lost there!

Not to be all nitpicky, but if they are paying you can it really be considered a donation?

i also have a buddy(s) that have had the tats or piercing within a year (limit) that donate, you dont always have to be truthful. just tell them what they want to hear and its obvious and get your needle time on

Sure theres a reward, theres no such thing as doing it for free. and theres a sign on the building that says "donate plasma" so i just go with it

Thank you so much for that, I'm definitely keeping you in mind. I'll have to see how it goes with everything else.
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo
herecomesthesun! That's sad news, growing up is a drag isn't it?! I saw you at the inforoo brunch this year but never made it your way to say hi. I recognized you from your picture and then when I was going to go over say hi I thik you had alread left! Oh well, I'll see you in 2010! At least then you won't have to be worrying about missing school.
besides that they replace the plasma with saline (say-leen) i dont know how its spelt, anyways it just replenishes the electrolites, i aways try to drink a gatorade after too with the 40 bucks i just made for sitting there for an hour and a half
I have a feeling with the economy in such bad shape, there will be a much reduced attendance at Roo this year. Last year it was mainly gas prices, now it's way worse. We are going to 10KLF for sure and hopefully roo too. I'm crossing my fingers for a stellar line up. It has to be worth it, it's just too far and too expensive to just go for the party.
