Yeah, I don't really remember the clues having much to do with the bands there were playing on Bonnaroo Radio. I do remember people listing the bands that came before and after a specific clue, but I don't remember that making a difference in deciphering the clue.
i specifically remember that after djjd said the clue "Clouds Taste this way...", the first song played was the W.A.N.D. by the flaming lips. we didnt want to believe that clouds taste metallic. but they do.
the music played on the radio are bands that have played at bonnaroo, vegoose. sometimes the songs being played before or after the clue was important. i wish we would get more clues, this is killing me. i heard on the radio the other day that elton john and billy joel are touring. i looked into it and it looks like they stop after march, but maybe theres hope!

I think I still have some of the list of what songs were on either side of the clues saved on my computer somewhere. But as far as I remember we never found any correlation. Most of the clues played multiple times with different songs surrounding them, so it would be hard for there to be a connection with those ones. Of course we still don't know the answers to most of the clues, so there could be a connection we're just not aware of.
I'm trying to remember from last year... did we get clues for the artist additions as well? The clues have been pretty sparse so far and I'm hoping DJ JD dishes out some more of them. With the lineup to be released in a few weeks or maybe a month, it seems like there won't be enough time for him to give as many hints, riddles and red herrings as he gave last year.
I need something to keep me entertained in these dull, cold winter days.
I have worked on the clues by myself since they started last year, but I feel like I might have something worth noting finally.
I had a problem with the previous conclusions to the "AC/DC" clue. TV on the Radio wasn't a very clear connection, although they are a band who would be clue worthy. Edison connects to the clue perfectly, but seriously. That band? Earning a clue?
So I put some thought into it, and think I have the actual act figured out using the work already done in this thread:
Bon Iver
The clue states that "someone who IS AC/DC" (the rest of the clue doesn't matter) Through the white stripes lyric, we know that Edison is AC/DC. But, that goes one step further. Who is someone who is Edison (AC/DC)? Justin EDISON Vernon, aka Bon Iver. Thus, a combination of the perfect clue connections and a band that is both likely AND worthy of a clue.

was björk ever mentioned for the ac/dc clue? i know the bisexuality logic is unpopular, but she is bisexual and her last album was volta. seems noteworthy.
she toured europe last year and is due for a US leg.
EDIT: after doing some research, i've discovered that according to pitchfork she's going to use the next 3 years working on a new album, making a tour seem unlikely. however, with a recent track like nattura a one-off show at rolling stone's #1 festival given it's recent greening acolades doesn't seem too far-fetched.

I like the Bon Iver guess, only cause it's something different and it uses the White Stripes lyrics still. That'd be clever. The middle name still kinda throws me though... It is a pretty sweet fit though
I think TV on the Radio, the Mars Volta and Bjork are the best guesses.
Actually, wasn't the Mars Volta in Europe last year when so many people thought they were going to play? That actually makes A LOT of sense now that I think about it.
I think Edison is right as well. But from how the third round of clue giving went last year, I would say that it is just the first step in a series of clues that will lead somewhere at the very last second. The final round of clues before the "big announcement" all led to Les Claypool after about a week of chasing dead ends.

anyone thing the ac/dc clue might have been his "dirt" on the Bonnaroo 365 launch? Give us something that fits right into a white stripes song ... jack white was playing with a tesla coil in jim jarmusch's "coffee and cigarettes." now we keep our ears big and open listening to the raconteurs live set.

BLAH, I was SO CONVINCED today would be the day. I just had this sudden epiphany while I was lying and bed and for some reason I was SURE it would be today. I was thinking maybe our clues would start on a Wednesday like other updates and news and "big announcements." Guess not.
ratm has an interesting point about the clues being sort of cumulative, maybe. I don't remember exactly how that last round of clues went; I'll have to look them over again. I hadn't remembered that they ALL led to Les Claypool, but I know it was definitely something we had in mind. There were a lot of people who thought Claypool would be the addition, and I do remember that a lot of the clues were making people think that. If every clue from that last round pointed the same direction, that would be interesting.
I guess I was only partially correct here is dj jd's explination of the third round of clues. But there was a series of clues that went towards Les claypool but also a set of clues that went to WSP. Fun to look back though.

Well DAMN, how did I miss that? I never even realized dj jd explained everything like that. I was wondering why not since I remember him saying he would after everything was done, but I never saw that. It appears I have some updating to do for my website!
