Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
i probably went too far calling him a country bumpkin stoner strumming a guitar but, next to Talking Heads, Willie Nelson is so quacking boring. Like i said, i like Willie but its not the genius of David Byrne.
Like a dog to his vomit, so you return to stupid statements. Like I said before, David Byrne is a creative guy whose work I dig.
But Willie Nelson is probably one of the five most influential pop musicians of the past 50 years. This isn't hyperbole. The dude broke major barriers in music that we pretty much take for granted these days. And as a musician, there really is no comparison between him and Byrne. Willie on guitar is about as flawless as it gets.
So far this is the only show that I will not miss for anything. I am so fuckin' happy he's coming back and now I have my first chance to see one of my favorite singer/songwriter/artists ever! BBBOOONNNAAARRROOO!!!

Several things to note:
- Fact: David Byrne was the frontman for the Talking Heads (only one of the greatest bands EVER).
- Fact: David Byrne is the coolest person to ever play Bonnaroo.
- Fact: David Byrne can make you dance just by looking at you.
- Fact: This will be one of the top 3 shows of the weekend.
- Fact: This post is starting to sound like a Wendy's commercial.
- Fact: If you think "Our House (In the Middle of Our Street)" is by the Talking Heads, please move to the back of the crowd for David Byrne's performance.

Stop Making Sense is great if you are looking for Talking Heads material.
For solo stuff, the new album that he made with Brian Eno, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, is probably a good place to start. It's fantastic, and I imagine he'll play a lot off of it at Roo.
It's hard for me to pick a place to start off on his older albums. My favorite is probably Grown Backwards, but Look Into The Eyeball also is great. (Edit: I like all of them, but these are my two favorites.)
Fact: I need Byrne 101 bad...........where should I start
I probably won't be able to get to it until the weekend, but I will post his Bonnaroo '04 set when I get a chance. That was my favorite set that year and is a great place to start.

His show in 04 was hands down a five on the booty shaking richter scale I remember coming from my camp site in BFE in the back 9 to all these volunteers grooving on large dumpsters separating recycling where VIP is now the whole place was electrified

Oh please do post that! I'd love to check it out. As far as where to start with David Byrne, for his solo material start with the new record as someone above stated. I also rather enjoy Rei Momo, Uh-Oh, Look Into the Eyeball, and Grown Backwards.
But seriously, if you don't own a copy of Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense, what the fuck are you doing reading a message board? GO AND BUY IT NOW!

Other than Phish, this is my most highly anticipated Bonnaroo show. I caught Byrne's performance in 2005 and it was a high-light of the entire festival, IMO.
Will he be bringing the Tosca strings with him on this run?

not to burst anyone's bubble, but the david byrne that played bonnaroo in 04 is not the same david byrne who is currently touring. i saw him play in atlanta last year for the new album tour and the show was just bad. he had these shitty dancers all dressed in white and all the songs seemed like covers. if you ask me, the string quartet from 04 made his show great. without that, there was nothing to draw me to the music. no grit. no funk. he turned all the songs we love into like adult-contemporary elevator music. the abstract dancers ruined it for me.
that being said, i love the talking heads and most of db's solo work. if there is one artist i believe that can really put on a great show if they tried, it's him, so here's hoping that the db we all love shows up and not this bland, boring version.

I have to disagree! I was at the Atlanta show, and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen! The songs he did were all off of Everything That Happens Will Happen Today (the new album), My Life in the Bush of Ghosts (the other solo album he made with Brian Eno), Remain In Light, More Songs About Buildings And Food, and Fear of Music (the three Talking Heads album that he worked with Eno on). When he sang "Heaven" I almost cried.
I enjoyed the dancers, but they didn't really make or break the show for me.
What is a normal Byrne set like? A lot of Talking Heads stuff, or solo? I'm not very familiar with his solo work, but I've enjoyed what I've heard by the Talking Heads.
