^^That's a pretty bold prediction considering ticket numbers are already higher than last year
You're talking about the numbers printed on the ticket? If that's so then that is proof that they are selling more than last year. I stand corrected fine sir.
I only want good things for everyone, but this economy is kicking the sh!t out of a lot of people and I just don't see how Roo is gonna avoid gettin some of it.
One thing is for sure, it's going to be way more packed than last year, which definitely isn't good. But on the bright side of things, that means they'll have more money to spend on next year's lineup!
I like a crowded venue. I felt a little depressed by the less-than-stellar turn out last year compared to 2007. There's a whole different crazy electrical good vibe when Roo is sold-out, that I didn't feel last year.

Yea I'm only basing my claim on the numbers on the tickets, but I'm fairly certain it's accurate. And yeah, the economy blows big right now. Roo's avoiding it fairly well because they hired two of the most successful business in the world right now... Phish & Bruce Springsteen

The economy does suck, but Bonnaroo can be a budget vacation compared to going to the beach or Disney World etc. etc. I seriously doubt they would lie about the ticket sales. They're honestly just trying to give people a heads up that it's close to selling out. It's Phish and Bruce Springsteen, I mean it's inevitable. They did it with Tool and the Police, they can sure as hell do it with the Boss and Phish. Also, Coachella sales were up from last year as well. The economy is bad, but compare it to this time last year when gas was over $4 a gallon.

I liked being able to get up close to just about any show. Of course that's being selfish, I wish everyone in the world could have a time like those 4 days, especially our G.I.s overseas.

One of the oldest sales tricks in the book is "The Sell-Out".
"You better get 'em while you can we're down to the last few! Better not wait, might not be here when you come back tomorrow."
I'm not saying SuperFly and all of them are liars or evil, but I'm sure they employ sales gimmicks like "The Sell-Out" to succeed in a competitive market and who can blame them? I just happen to see through it.
^^ But didn't 03' sell out in a matter of weeks? I wasn't there. I didn't know about Bonnaroo till 04'. But it seems to me that I heard 03' sold out really quick. Maybe I misunderstood though.
they admitted they didn't sale out last year at only 65000
Only year it's happened, if I'm correct. And having been every year except last, I've seen notable differences between "sold out" crowds. For instance, 2005 was "sold out,", but wayyyyy less packed than 2006 and 2007, which was when they supposedly "reduced" the number of tickets available.
Let me put it this way - 2002 was the only year where a sell-out was announced more than a week or so before the fest was set to begin. That makes me suspicious.
2005 did not sell out, they even had a ticket sales office set up in Manchester for late ticket buyers and will call. They did try to up the capacity to 90,000 that year. I don't know how many they actually sold.
It is predictable though. If they are close to a sell out, they'll just call it a few days before the start. I really believe that "tickets selling fast" email means they are going to call it a sell out soon.
Of course Bonnaroo will "sell out." Every year, they announce that Bonnaroo has "sold out," which almost always coincides with a date that is close enough to the festival start where it would be impossible for them to get your tickets to you.
They didn't announce a sell-out last year; in fact I think they were almost 10,000 tickets short of their 80,000 target. A good indicator that Roo is almost sold out is when they announce that VIP tickets have sold out, which I'm pretty sure had already happened by this time last year.
I never expected it to sell out this year, given the state of the economy. In some other year, this lineup probably would have given Roo one of its fastest sell-outs. Most people just can't afford to be spending hundreds (or even thousands) on a 4 day vacation right now.
They usually have called VIP sold-out by this time. Maybe VIP sales are hurting this year due to the price increase, change in policies, and bad economy.
Bonnaroo GA is a bargain vacation that can do well in a down economy. I don't think the same is true for VIP.
