god how i'd LOVE for fugazi to come out of their hiatus...say using roo as a springboard. is that so much to ask?
another old-school punk band that would be awesome is gang of four. i saw them a few years ago, and they played almost entirely songs from their first few albums that everyone wanted to hear; none of the garbage they made in the 90s.
No way Fugazi ever touches a corporate ran festival.

And maybe some fun reunions as mentioned before! At the Drive-In (I wish!), Fugazi, Black Flag, Op Ivy, Husker Du. Minutemen, Minor Threat, or really anyone else from the 80s hardcore scene
+1 for ATDI. I would love love love to see a reunion! Anything is possible, right?

don't anyone hold there breath for the violent femmes i saw them play there last show which was last october and vince walked of stage saying i love you and i don't know what will happen from here. gordo started a fight with brian because he sold songs for commercials the only one i can remember right now is a wendy's ad but there were a few others and he didn't ask anyone in the band and took all the money for himself. so who knows if we will ever see those boys again

this makes me sad and have not heard that. i loves the femmes and have never got to see them.

^^^ as much as i love the minutemen, the death of d. boon in 1985 will prevent that from ever happening. the remaining members disbanded right after his death, and no way would there be a reunion. however, having mike watt on the farm in some form would be cool.
how about mission of burma? it's realistic, and it'd be awesome. they've released an album (which was great) as recently as '06, and have been touring - they played pitchfork fest '08.
Great suggestion on Mission of Burma. Don't think it would happen, but would love it to. Also want X, Bad Brains, Meat Puppets, Butthole Surfers and Jesus Lizard, but am not holding out hope.

So glad I finally saw them on the NJ shore for $10 about a year before this happened... even though the club in this town was quite... sign posted on the way in? Among other very specific things ... "No Hoodies Allowed" though my jeans were torn to threads and that was fine... ???
Whatever, I guess? ... KICKASS show...
And... In ANY case... diff band... the NY Dolls... played JazzFest TWICE in 2005... if there really IS that connection... here's to hoping.... And... Little Steven's LOVE for them? Well.. here's to hoping

It saddens and hurts me to see what some people consider punk rock. I digress, because it just starts arguments. That being said, try to avoid making suggestions of bands that haven't existed since the 19080's. Also, if a main member of the band is dead (like say Joe Strummer from The Clash - my favorite band) let's not say that they should play roo. I mean can you imagine the Minutement without D. Boone. Do you even think Watt would consider that?!?!?! OPIV hasn't been together in ages.
FWIW I saw Bad Brains a few months ago and they were quite underwhelming compared to what they once were. The NY Dolls should play roo. I'd day the same about the Stooges lest the death of their guitar player Ron Asheton. Effed up I completely expect to play.
Mick Jone's latest project Carbon Silicon jwould be a nice addition. Saw Joe twice. Never seen Mick.
I'd love to see any real ska band there. The English beat are currently touring. Not sure how active the Toasters are, but they were always great live. The Pilfers could show up I suppose.

dead kennedys without jello not dead kennedys do not want op ivy and common rider are not coming back but jesse is in a new band classics of love
really i'd rather see my favorite punk bands alone in a dirty club then a music fest dont really want the misfits, choking victim and the murder junkies at roo
but bad brains, dead milkmen, nofx, the specials would be fun

^^^ This
Punk doesn't work in a big outdoor setting. Never has, never will. The types of "punk" bands that play festivals are a) not really punk at all b) used to be punk-rock but expanded to other things.
The main reason a punk band doesn't work at a festival like Bonnaroo? Punk bands would need to play like a 40 song set to fill up even a regular time slot. Every song is like two minutes long.
The only way to see a punk show is to go down to a dingy bar, pay your 5 bucks and see 5 or 6 bands just give'r sh*t in front of a sweaty, beer-fueled crowd.

^^^ This too (other than the ska thing, not my thing).
Punk-rock is quite possibly the most misused term in music. There are lots of bands that have punky aspects to them, but are still far from being punk bands. However, it's an topic I try not to bring up as it tends to cause some pretty stupid arguments.
