I surprised how many of the songs sound like neil young songs with Booker's organ instead of neil's voice. I think the cuts w/out neil are the strongest on the album. Not that I don't like the whole thing.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

I agree it is not bad, but Neils guitar sounds a little out of place.

It sounds great, but I think I got the link with no words?
I love great jams, but really are we not gonna hear anyone singing during this show at Bonnaroo? I mean I don't think I can watch Cooley without hearing his awesome southern voice.

yeah this set is definately going to be sweet. I was pretty bummed that I was going to miss this set (I'll be camping for Bruce from probably 2PM on) but then I found out they are playing the Taste of Chicago on the Fourth (Buddy Guy, Booker T and DBTs, and Guster for free). Should be pretty sweet, hopefully it will compare to the Roo set.

This is kind of my sentiment too. No disrespect to Booker T. (he is a legend after all), but i don't know if i can watch the DBTs play the back up band to a fully instrumental set. Them being right in front of me and not playing a face-melting Trucker Show would hurt my soul.
Hopefully they get a stand alone set or play on the sonic stage or something as well this year.
I just listened to Potato Hole, Booker T's new release. No vocals, but crisp guitar and keyboards. Reminds me a little of Medeski Martin and Wood. This will play really well at roo...!
I rather like the new record. Definitely a good summer record and this will be a fun show. I wonder who they'll have filling in for Young? My guess is Warren Haynes

I thought Neil Young played on 9 out of the 10 album tracks??
2010: 3/12: The Bad Plus/Happy Apple/Buffalo Collision/The Bad Apple 6/10-13: Bonnaroo 6/19: Rock the Garden 7/30-31: Mid West Music Fest 8/21: Los Hombres Calientes 8/31: Marijuana Death Squads 9/11: The Book of Right On w/ City on the Make 9/23: Of Montreal w/ Janelle Monae 10/4: Broken Social Scene 11/23: Grinderman
It was pretty cool, the DBT's are from my area, and it was cool seeing them play some of their songs.
They are gonna be playing 2 shows here, it'd be awesome if jason isbell came out and did a few songs with them, if he isn't out touring..
you goin to 40 watt or u from muscle shoals? if only isbell was still with them. i started liking these guys when jason joined the band and was pissed when he left but now i think i like them more when its just patterson and the stroker ace

I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."
