there was a snake coiled up by the tire of our van in 06 kinda looked like the copperheads we have down here in Texas, but could have been a banded water snake( i'm no snake expert). Just saying i've seen them on the farm during roo. We also camped in the back 40 along the tree line in tall grass, so i guess we did invade it's territory.

I live in Georgia, and I have dealt with a few copper heads... Just stay in open grass, look where you're walking, and don't do anything stupid like screw with one if you see it. Just be smart. If you're gonna take a dip, look over the water first. If a snake happens to be in there, and sitting still, its head will be over the water and waving, almost like a branch in the water. That's what they're mimicking... And if you don't spot one, and go in, they'll probably swim away. They're scared of giant flailing creatures. Stay aware when walking through tall grass, and as for fire ants, just look around. If you're gonna sit on the ground, look for ants on the ground first, and look where you walk. Most fireants have a big ass mound that's hard to miss. As for the giant cat fish, pretty cool, but I would suggest swimming while sober, so if anything did nip atcha, you can be aware enough to fight it off and get the hell out.
My friend found a snake under his tent in 2002 when packing up. Heard a couple stories of a Rattler on the BFE trail in 2006. Have never seen a mosquito at Roo. Had a couple ticks in 2005 though.
72 pound catfish?! Dear god that is my biggest fear. Next to a 73 pound catfish. I had to close my eyes to scroll past those pictures. I have a fish phobia, and catfish are on the top of my list. Safe to say that I will not be wandering anywhere near that pond...

Never came across the fire ants but our neighbors went to the walmart and got peanut butter and jelly, and these black ants showed up out of nowhere and went absolutely crazy. Was an insane amount of ants out of nowhere. Other than that it was pretty bug free except for the odd huge spider on the outside of the tent and a couple flies or flying things inside the tent.

Considering your user name, I figured you were scared of rabbits.

Haha, nope. Not scared of bugs nor rabbits. Truthfully that spider was huge enough that I'd have been uneasy had it been inside, but nothing to be afraid of.

there are several differences between banded water snakes and copperheads although they are similar in coloration. Copperheads' bands narrow along the back almost in an hourglass type pattern. Also of course they have the typical triangular shaped heads of a pit viper and if you are stupid enough to look one in the eye its pupils are vertical.
For the most part, snakes wont bother you unless threatened although copperheads get po'ed very easy. Bottom line is if you see one don't panic, remain calm, and DO NOT try to pick the damn thing up! also if its just laying there don't assume it's dead.
No, I'm not a snake expert, just developed some knowledge and healthy respect when we had a 5 acre place in the North Ga mountains. Have also treated a couple of snakebite victims in the ER - so I'm not at all afraid of snakes, but that big a$$ spider, well, if he shows up in my tent all of Bonnaroo will hear me. scream (even though I know deep down inside he's harmless).
I'm not sure of their genus species, but their common name is Phantom Shitter. I had one of them invade our BFE campsite every night back in 06 or maybe 07. By the end of the weekend, we were starting to worry about the apparent changes in his diet over the weekend...

Note to self: Don't look any snakes in the eye or pick up any snakes at Roo.

So I dont have anything to add of any substance aside from when I was in basic, the battery (The artillery equevelent of a company) behind ours, Charlie, was named "Cobra Battery", and their CO had "COBRA COMANDER" Stenciled on his door, with the GI Joe Cobra logo underneath it.
This was like, a 35 year old Captain. I thought that was awesome.
Oh wait, i do have something to offer to the thread! Last year we brought these water coolers and made giant things of Gatoraide, and Ants were atracted to em.
