I just bought my ticket for this the other day..........
;D
Time to bump this. Who is still going besides me, nola, and wolfmanjess? Less than a week to go, and this thread is deader than the Mingle thread after a Salamander post.
Time to start a phone list. If I don't have yours, PM me. I should be set up near the stages Wednesday nite, in a location that will be a convenient meeting point/beer stash.

Looks like either: A - A lot of people changed their minds about going. B - Everyone is going, but hoping to avoid me while there. C - Everybody's going, but are too busy packing to waste their time talking about it on here. or D - A little of all the above

Sorry the Phish Cincinnati run beat this out. Plus I will not have a car of my own until the start of December, and I doubt my borrowed Sentra would make it.

Dammit! ??? I didn't even include you in the list of questionable people, because I was sure you'd be there. So I guess it's just nitetimeritetime, nola, and me from the board at this point. Oh well, sorry you can't make it, but it's still gonna be a hell of a weekend.
i am going with a crew from orlando havent been to bear creek but have heard good things from my friends at FSU.. I have been to Wanee Fest and had a blast this festival site is by far the best i have ever been too
I'm pretty stoked for this. I may not leave til early Friday morning as the guy whose car we are taking at this point can't get off of work on Thursday night.......

yikes saturday looks rough for you man but hopefully u will be at the tents working and raging with the rest of us
Yeah, most likely I'll be working the stages, it's just a question of which one at what time. Just look for the long-haired hippy-looking freak on the back or side of the stage. I'll just be watching the shows, then moving stuff off/on stage between bands.
does anyone that went to the fest know what the mystery show was on saturday night?
it was Soulive......
not very surprising as all of the members were there with their respective side projects. I went and checked it out for a bit, because I had never seen Soulive before, but for me, that was the most conflicted part of the festival. Needless to say, we didn't stay all too long at that show, but what we saw was rocking.
They had the Shady Horns with them, as they were one of the artists at large during the weekend, and they've toured with Soulive before.....

"I just got fragged by a non-working speak." 5 Roo's and counting
i want to hear more about the vibe at this fest. how is it at bear creek compared to other fests of its size? next summer i will be backpacking and kayaking in alaska for all of june and i will be teaching in africa for all of july and half of august. this is really the only festival i am considering for next year. i wanted to do bear creek this year and last year but couldn;t because of school or money. im graduating in may so it wont be a problem next year. if the lineuo is as pretty as this year or last year im definately in for 10, but i want to hear some responses from 08 and 09 attendees,
08 and 09 have both exceeded expectations. all the bands are fantastic and its hard to walk away from even the lesser known locals. nights are wild as hell with all the funk goin on. they had a circus tent set up and the late night stuff was in there. awesome sets from lotus, lettuce, etc. in there, plus the tent was shelter from the cold. the venue is perfect. they allow campfires whereevr you want in the campgrounds. people had generators and there are jam sessions going on everywhere. the place is smaller but it feels like a big reunion. don't worry about the cops, a lot of people rag on bear creek because there were some incidents of undercovers. as long as you keep your stuff under wraps you will have no problem.
yeah my brother went in 08 and said the cops were a real buzzkill, he said he saw a few people get busted. but yeah the summer fests are out for 2010, so im looking to get funky next november. hoping Medeski Martin & Wood make an appearance next year, along with returns from Lettuce, Toubab, and Karl Denson.

I'll second all of what dharmabum said. The overall vibe of the weekend was mellow during the day, crazy at night. Lots of great music with tons of sit-ins and special guest appearances. I'll go back to Bear Creek every year.
