i smoke a lot in general, but i don't tend to smoke when i am REALLY close up front in the tents... one because i don't wanna burn people, two is too hott, three i am usually bouncing around & not thinking of smoking. when i smoke a cigg it's usually at a chill set in the back with space around me, not in people's faces. i feel like a jerk, and i wouldn't want someone doing that to me either.

I gave up smoking a little while ago (though I still have the occasional one). The smoke doesn't really bother me though, especially as it's outdoors. Just as long as they're not ashing on me or blowing smoke in my face, I'm fine.

I'm a pretty heavy smoker and the only time smoke bothers me is in cars without windows rolled down or inside some places. It's never bothered me at 'roo. And when I'm up front I make sure to blow my smoke above everyones head so it doesnt go in their face and I'm super careful not to burn anybody.
I smoke like a newscaster from the 50s so i dont mind the smoke. I mean its outside.
Right but many smokers concentrated around each other in a tent setting really does not matter if your inside or out at that point. And of course you are not affected because you smoke.
And I want to re-reiterate lakai's point please pick up your butts as well as your other trash, unfortunately it is much less the people on here that are probably causing all this trash so the message is not even getting to the right people. It irks me that people can't carry out the crap they brought over to their spot at a show just lazy and uncaring most of the time. I know the main excuse from most people will be 'oh I was so fucked up I forgot" thats a lame excuse and the bigger part of the problem is that you probably would have done it not fucked up also you just don't care.

summercamp last year...moe. encore..right at the end...now we ask everyone here please pick up one piece of garbage...i had back pockets with bottles and hands full of garbage..and i see people just walking like nothing and when i offer them a piece of mine....."nah im good brah"
i always held my cig up above my head and blew the smoke up in the air and everyone around me has always been thankful. I was just always so afriad of burning someone that is the real scare
lol funny thread. i was actually thinking of just chain smoking for the entire bonnaroo weekend if i can get cheap cigs from that American Spirits tent. i dont smoke cigarettes really, i could almost count the number of cigarettes i have smoked except for the fact that i am soo drunk when i decide to smoke cigarettes.
i was thinking of doing it just for the quick buzz, i know a lot of people who smoke cigarettes to help keep themselves awake. i would probably stop right after the festival. haha this is weird to think about doing but i kind of like the idea

ill have no problem stopping, after Roo last year i didnt want to do anything but lay in silence. I never have the urge to smoke cigarettes despite almost everyone i know constantly smoking them. i just think it will be something fun to try

You'll get sick from the nicotine after 3-4 cigarettes tops if you never smoke, and after that happens you won't want to see another cigarette the whole weekend. So I don't see you getting hooked for life trying to chain smoke at Roo lol.

It will. I used to be a fairly regular smoker, 2-3 a night when I worked. Having not smoked like that since November, I can't finish a whole cigarette without trying now.

I brought five packs with me last year and finished them off midway through Sunday...
One thing I love about Roo: I see a lot of people trying to dispose of their butts rather than throwing them on the ground. My method? Reserve one pocket in my cargo shorts for butts. When I finish a smoke, I flick out the cherry and stick the butt in my pocket. The shorts stink by the end of the weekend, but whose don't?
Free smokes at the Indian Spirit tent is it? You have to be 18 with I.D. - or find a friend.
Unless they changed it last year it's 21 with an ID. Plus working at Philip Morris gets me a better deal than a free few packs.
It's just a respect thing for me. I've gotten so used to not smoking in clubs that I can go a whole set without a smoke. And karma to lakai. Pick up your butts.

It doesn't work that way for everyone. I smoke at Bonnaroo. That's it. Never have a problem being sick while I'm there and never have a problem not smoking when I leave. Granted I don't chain smoke and I'm not an ex-smoker...
I just want to reiterate please bring something to put your butts in, dont throw them on the ground its gross.

Yes, this is more aggravating than the smell or anything else attributed to cigs (aside from the random moron who'll burn you with a cigarette, accidentally).

for what its worth... i usually only smoke when im drinking. other than that, concerts or holidays. bonnaroo = one big concert. so i smoke the whole time.
as for the whole tent thing, its terrible up front for me. i can barely breathe. i may smoke occasionally, but the smell of second hand smoke is the worst. i think its just rude to blow smoke in peoples faces, but the people doing it are probably not paying attention to what they're doing. ......
