Hmmmm....I had a granola bar and a beer. I think Wolf needs to convince some of his like minded friends to move south! Nothing a Southern Girl loves more than a Man who knows how to make that all important Southern Specialty - Reservations! ;D
hah! I'm certainly better at making reservations than I am at making almost any food! haha
On the menu for tonight is most likely some live music, and a preparation of fine beer with sips of whiskey on the side, probably in an alley outside the venue. Dessert will be a serving of corn in a delightfully colorful glass bowl.

That sounds delicious (except for the fact that we would also be having vomit for dinner if I drank whiskey).
Turnip greens with hog jowl Mashed tators with brown gravy Chicken 'n' dumplins cornbread pecan pie with vanilla bean ice cream and caramel sauce sweet tea
rainy Sunday afternoon here, I'm in the mood to get in the kitchen and cook a couple of days' worth of meals ...so here goes: not sure what we will end up eating tonight.
chocolate banana bread, meat loaf, jerk chicken, and maybe even make some piecrust for quiche later in the week. Couple good bottles of wine so I can cook Julia Child-style and some good tunes....I love being in domestic goddess mode, long as its done my way!
definitely gotta fit in a yoga session before I start drinking though.
Meg, I made an apricot-glazed pork loin a few weeks ago. It was one fo the best things I think I've ever made. The recipe is at home, but I found it online, probably at cooks.com or allrecipes.com. I remember it involved a spice rub and then glazing the loin with the apricot glaze about 5-10 minutes before you take it out of the oven.

wow you guys have some good food cookin'. we are having mexican food. im making it buti ts nothing special JHO i make pretty freaking good chicken and dumplings....if i remember ill bring you a mason jar of it when we meet.
with a few changes - no grilling - I'll do it in the oven and I am not going to let it sit for 24 hours with the rub on it. I don't have time for that.
But pork sounds better than fish sticks, mac & cheese and applesauce

Pretty sure that's the one I used... I didn't do any ginger though and it still tasted fantastic.
EDIT: That's it! You found it Meg! I also did mine in the oven. I rubbed it down a day in advance but I think it would be fine if you did it just an hour or so in advance.
Yeah, don't give up! Corn bread is one of those things you just have to learn by FEEL...
I need to find you a seasoned cast iron skillet and send it to you...that will go a LOOONG way in the corn bread making. And don't forget...the higher the temp...the better the corn bread. I NEVER cook mine at less than 425-450 degrees for about 20-25 mins. Cornbread is NOT something to cook low and slow!

A seasoned skillet would have helped. I think I just didnt get enough butter or milk in there. It was a little too crumbly. And I'm uncertain about this non-self rising corn meal. >:-(
I've got more gumbo so maybe I'll just give it another run.
Tonight will be plain noodles... I've been feeling nauseous today.
This weekend I re-discovered a crock pot cookbook that I've had for a few years. Last night I made a beef stew from one of the recipes, and tomorrow night I'll be making a cranberry pork roast. Gonna start using that crock pot more often!
Was all pretty decent. I need a little more practice on the corn bread though. I'll get it better next time.
Anyone say anything about the crab boil?
Last night we had roast, sweet potatoes, butter peas, steamed broccoli, mashed potatoes, pasta salad
(My BFF did a roast w/ potatoes and carrots and brought it over to add to ours so we just did a whole pot luck of what was in the fridge and what we could cook - LOL)
tonight they will have hot dogs - momma is going out!
