Does anyone know how many tickets they sell for Rites of Spring? I'm trying to come up with an itinerary for Saturday and wanted to get an idea of what size crowd to expect. I read that last year they had a lot of trouble getting people in a timely manner and a lot of people missed some shows while they were waiting to get in. I already have my tickets, I'm just wondering what time I should show up!

YAY!!
Left to right: Courtney (jho's friend), jhointn, druid, handgunhips, and Bailey (HGH's fiend)
and oh yeah, I'm in the back.
I posted the rest of my pics on myspace. Here is a link to the album: viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.editAlbumPhotos&albumID=3039003 beware handgun... there is a pretty gruesome pic of Bailey and a turkey leg! also, my camera is kinda crappy so, you know... the pics aren't that great but whatever. It was so awesome to meet you guys! I hope everyone had a blast and I hope to see you guys at roo!! ;D ;D ;D
Well that was fun. In a strange, bizarre, wet, kind of way. Drunk frat boys, you got to love em. Or kill em. All I can say, and I am quoting Julie, is "thank God for the Bonnaroo crowd".
man, that was pretty fun. but yes, the Bros stunk up the place for sure. i was stuck with a couple of those frat boys for a while. i asked them to help me up so i could do a little bit of crowd surfing, and they were like "uhh do we look like a bunch of hippies? no we aren't touching you." and more comments like " Can we throw our beer cans at the teletubies?" made me move to find a better area in the crowd. ha, i eventually found the Nicer part of the crowd and continued my super fun night.

Yeah this was part of the reason I just couldn't get motivated to go. I remember the last time I went and it pretty much ruined it for me. My daughter and her friends went so I am interested to hear how she liked it. Maybe I am just too old and cranky to deal with it anymore ;D

The best part was meeting inforoosters. ;D
Indeed! The picture of us inforoo laiies is lovely! I need to learn to sit up straight though
The show itself was good, but it would have been a lot better if the crowd had behaved and we weren't standing on top of beer cans. But I don't regret going!
Me, Squirrel, and friends had a pretty good time despite the frat crowd. I am in the process of uploading our videos to www.youtube.com/bcrofty . We have a lot to upload so most won't show up until end of day today. Here are some of our pictures though:
I was crushed in the mosh pits during N.E.R.D. I'm a small person, so there are times I felt like I couldn't breathe because people's bodies were pushed up against my face. Then I was pushed down by a bunch of dudes and got stepped on. I had waited in my spot for five hours so I would be close for the Flaming Lips but I felt like I was going to die and had to go to the back. When my boyfriend was pushing through the crowd to get me out so I could breathe (I was crying and hyperventilating at this point), a crowd surfer fell on top of me. I was and still am really, really pissed off about it. I will never attend this festival again since they obviously let the performers bend the security rules however they like, even if it puts the crowd in danger.
Edit....Also was anyone else up front and saw the mother and child that had to be pulled over the barricade because of the pushing? I hope that little girl wasn't hurt.
thanks for making me feel like a jerk. anywhere you have a huge crowd of people and really loud music, being stepped on or getting uncomfortable is bound to happen. :/ srry for the crowd surfer who fell on you. i think crowd surfing can be safe if theres team work going on, and care for one another. im guessing there wasnt either of that where you were standing. oh yeah, i was sitting up front before nerd? when i saw a woman bring her little baby to the front. personally i think that was pretty irresponsible of that mom. ha who brings their baby to the front of a show? esp something like nerd? but i do hope they got out before it got really rough. yeah i drove 4 hours, and stood in front for 5 hours to see them. and i also ended up further in the back, and got stuck with some bros which almost made me go back to my car, but finding the good fans was what saved me from having a terrible time.
I've been to a lot of concerts and I've been in plenty of mosh pits. I'm not complaining about being uncomfortable. I have a problem with Pharrell Williams telling the crowd that they could crowd surf and encouraging people to "turn it up to 20" when the mosh pits were already really bad to begin with. I also have a problem with being pushed down on the ground and having someone grabbing me by my hair. I like being able to breathe. I just feel security should have intervened and not let him control the crowd when the situation became dangerous.
^^ I'm so sorry that happened to you, hearyoume. I'm glad you were able to get out! I've never experienced a crowd as rude and disrespectful as that one. I'm not sure I'd go back again either.

That really sucks hearyoume.
The crowd wasn't enjoyable at all. I'm glad I had the inforoosters with me, because I don't think I would have lasted that long if they weren't there. :]
Thanks guys. The Flaming Lips did save the night and we ended up having a nice time during their show. The rest of the festival during the day was pretty good too. There was a lot of great music. I just wish things didn't go down the way they did at N.E.R.D. I was really scared.
