So... I'm starting to really think about it, and I'm contemplating finding a place to crash Sunday night and finding a ride up Monday. I hate to miss the good shows on Sunday (and fireworks, right? I love fireworks). I asked my friend if she'd have room in her tent, and if not, im sure i can figure out something with 1 of you inforooers. And then I gotta find a ride up to northern VA. Hmm...
ah ok. I liked how Starscape is only $60 and not too far from me so less gas money, but I definitely understand what you're sayin. That's why I figured if I don't get a volunteering position at Desiderata, then I'm not going. The gas and food alone can be costly, so I don't want to add a ticket on top of that when I don't have a stable income yet.
When I was in college, I was about 4.5 to 5 hours from Baltimore. A few times, I had gone from southwestern Connecticut to Balt. and back in the same day - for the purpose of seeing Red Sox vs. Orioles games. Was a long day by the time I got back.
It ended up being about 9 hours in the car, and about 6 on the ground. Get there about Noon, leave about 6. Heading north through central New Jersey was always painful.
There are quite a number of Sox fans who will go on the road and watch a game (or several). Baltimore and Toronto do fairly well with that since they are fairly close and good for a weekend trip. In the case of Balt, it's about 10-20k people per weekend game.

I travel to see UK basketball games occasionally...that is fun to walk into an opposing teams arena and see their lack of banners and championships...just looks barren and bleak.

Nice. I like Infected Mushroom and Crystal Method (I was pleased with the late Roo add). Thanks for taunting us with Starscape. Just one more festival I can't attend. I need all of my funds for Roo and then All Good shortly thereafter. And you should absolutely stick around for Sunday. You shouldn't have a problem finding a place to crash Sunday night. There must be some space at Camp Inforoo. If not, the girls and I might be able to Tetris you into our tent somehow, maybe. We might be out in BFE though depending on where the security gods land us. Can you change the return flight? If not surely someone has some room in their car and is headed up your way. Post a ride thread. Maybe Greyhound?
Yeah. Thankfully I asked my friend going and she sounded like she'd be cool with me crashing with her and her bf. So yay...i can get the full camping experience for a night, lol.
Apparently the contest says you use the campground showers, so I think I'd have to pay the $7 still. Oh well...baby wipes! I already have some! lol
And garageland lives in my area and said his ride might be able to squeeze me in for Monday So just have to work out the logistics of meeting up and whatnot.
I would change the return flight to make it later, but it *has* to be by the 13th and flights only leave at like 7pm latest, which means I gotta give an hour to the airport and enough time to check-in and go through security and all that. Greyhound is too expensive and too long, but my friends are taking that. It's $83 if I order it by tonight and then it goes to $106 for the next week's discount...and it's more than 18 hours long with 2 transfers. ehhhh.... I dunno. I think the car ride is shorter and cheaper, so I'll stick with that. I'll keep Greyhound in mind though as a backup since my friends are taking it. I just doubt it's worth the extra time and money.
I dunno if they'll let me stay on my own Sunday. The agreement says round-trip airfare and they wouldnt let one person drive when they have vertigo from riding airplanes, so she wasnt allowed to participate. I wonder if I can't comply with the return flight on Sunday then I am not considered to fully be participating in the contest. At the same time, if they found reason to kick me out on Sunday and revoke all my privileges or something, then i sign that i agree to take responsibility for myself in that instance. I'm gonna try to see if it's possible, but I might just be forced to leave early Sunday. No flights leaving Nashville after 7pm , and since it includes a ride home too then even if i had a late flight that lands at 2am or something, then the transportation home doesnt count if it's not on the 13th.
hmm... i might have to just deal with it and enjoy the quick trip home.

i think theyre gonna be picky. but something's better than nothing! ill try to ask the travel agent when i get the call, but right now, looks like i just gotta wait until Friday at least until they've got the paperwork and call me to know for sure, i think.
if you guy's are into electronic music then you might want to check out the Evolve Music Festival. Its held every year in Nova Scotia (Canada). It doesn’t have all the big names but it is still hella fun!
Say hey johnny boy, the battle call United we stand, divided we fall Together we are what we can't be alone We came to this country you made it our home

Seems so. They include transportation to the airport, flight home, & transportation home. And I think they're even making reservations without calling us now to get it done faster cause flights are limited with an event in Nashville it seems. I would love to stay but I'd leave a driver without work/not doing his job & an empty seat in the flight. I dunno if I can get around that. And also kinda unfair to the lady that was denied to fly there & the other winners that aren't trying to stay. I dunno...
Yeah. Saves me money in the end & I'm def tight on money, even with the contest. I gotta pay my share of taxes & have food money & whatnot. They're using the dates of the official festival (10th-13th) & Centeroo is only open those times too which the Barn is a part of. I do wish I could stay Sunday night. Even if I camp with friends & find my own ride, which I could do, but I'd wanna make sure the driver knew & I didn't get them to reserve a flight home. If only they could book me a 6am Mon flight or something. I'd be willing to stay extra hours at the airport & be picked up by midnight from the barn. But then the flight & transportation wouldn't be considered to be on the 13th & latest flight from Nashville I think is 6:30pm. I'd prob miss Regina, Phoenix, & DMB. DMB has a special tie with me too sorta cause they're linked to Virginia Tech where I went & they played a free concert for us back when the April 16th events happened.
Part of me says deal with it, you'll be exhausted by then anyway. The other part says try hard to stay longer & get the most outta the whole experience. It's my 1st Roo.
Yeah, if they are paying for the transportation and the flight, why not? Better than having to pay your way back, even if you got someone to bring you to Nashville on Monday - still need the plane out.
Sure you miss DMB and the other two. But I'd imagine they are all on tour if you wanted to see them badly enough.
If I was in your spot, I'd be a little bummed. But Sunday seems weaker to me than Friday and Saturday. Right now I plan on a DKM (who I've already seen twice - in Boston, for St. Patty's no less) to MMW (who I know nothing about) to DMB (who I've already seen each the last two years.)
I say stay for Sunday! Camp/Get a ride home with friends.
The drive is getting paid he wont care if your there to get picked up or not. The contest organizers said you have to leave Sunday. I saw stick it to “the man” and no show at the airport. The can’t force you to leave lol.
