'04- standing in a mud puddle with my 3 friends at the Primus show '05- The bridge of death...Anyone remember it? Everyone else seemed to be having no problem crossing it but my friend and I were sliding all over it. '07- Tool and the evening/morning in the tent following the flaming lips
Looking over at my 3 year old son rocking out and smiling back at me, screaming Bonnaroooooo! I love that my husband and I share our love of music with him in such a welcoming atmosphere. He has been with us 3 times (once inside my belly!) and each time adds so much more to the experience than going childless! It is really neat to see this awe and innocence that covers his face. He oozes acceptance and that is what it is all about. He definately teaches me the real lessons to live by!
Here's my moment. It occurred this year, at the Flaming Lips late night set.
The laser pointers had been tossed out to all of the crowd and the Lips were rocking up on stage and I looked around and noticed it seemed like I was the only one in the crowd without a laser pointer. I looked over at my friend's who were having a laser pointer battle amidst the smoke coming from their mouths and I looked at my other friend and said "Man... this show is sick so far, but all I really want right now is a friggin' laser pointer!" No lie, about half a second after I said that a laser pointer came flying through the air and hit me square in the face. Just one laser pointer had been tossed, not a handful, and it seemed to have targeted me alone. I stood there a bit dazed, picked it up and looked at my friend and we both just started laughing. It was at that point, where I realized that Bonnaroo was not just a farm... it was, simply put, heaven
i had a couple definitive moments.. one, during tool, i was smurfin out bad, and all of a sudden i look over and there is my bro, just rockin out and sweatin his ass off. after a couple mins i finally tugged on his shorts and said 'dude, u gotta sit down, ur pourin out so much sweat, have some water' and he looks at me with this dazed look in his eye and says 'oh my god, your right, i wouldve died unless you told me that ' and gives me this huge hug. it was great. number 2:fulfilling my lifelong dream of blazin a bonnadoob during ben harper's 'burn one down'. it seemed like everyone within a 5 mile radius was doing the same ;D
Neh Harper's set, after bringing out Ziggy Marley, brings out John Paul Jones and they played one of the best version of dazed and confused ever. The bass battled that ensued was so good ben harper just stopped playing to jam out, and it was just amazing seeing JPJ rock out and it just made me want Zeppelin more. If Zeppelin come to the Roo in 08, it would fulfill every rock and roll dream I have had.
One was during Rod Y Gabby Thrus night....when the ENTIRE crowd was singing "Wish You Were Here"...every word....SINCERELY from their hearts....not the cheesy kind of singing you usually hear from the crowd.....
Then wearing my Guerilla Radio T and watching Tom Morello blow the roof off the sucka with his 7.5 min guitar solo during Tool's set Friday night....playing with his TEETH ;D
And that doesn't EVEN count JPJ...Ben Harper...White Stripes...man....whatabargain!
2007 was my first Roo. Shoulda, woulda, coulda done '05 and '06 but oh well.
I accidentally purchased 6 tix instead of 3. I did end up selling the extras and traded one for an ounce of sweat leaf. Decided to take the ounce down with me hidden in one of those manual air mattress pumps, the red ones that you can unscrew the top off of. I was aware of the volunteers and police checking vehicles but the guy I followed down who had been there the past 4 or 5 years assured me that we'd get checked by volunteers and they mainly just look for weapons, bottles, fireworks, none of which I had.
Anyway, I got scared shitless when we were pulling in to the checkpoint area and I see all these cops with dogs searching cars on one side and the volunteers on the other. It was like I was waiting for judgement day or something. All I could think of was, oh shit I'm going to prison! Not to mention my dad is a corrections officer here at the minimum security prison. Luckily I got the volunteers who were very nice and I was very happy to not be going to jail and miss Roo!
Other than that, just experiencing all the first time shit that I tell people about now. People selling drugs, people on drugs. Naked people. Great shows.
i think that my definitive roo moment was walking through the arch for the first time. although i had spent all day thursday wandering centeroo, when i hit that arch, thats when i knew....wow, i finally made it. and my friend getting caught in a trunk...lol

I'm a worship pastor at a church. For the 2006 Roo, I decided to take our church's van because it had lots of storage space. Upon entering the gates where they were searching vehicles, the guy checking cars saw the huge logo on the side of the van and said.."Uh, I'm pretty sure you guys are ok." I got a good laugh out of it.
this was my first roo,but it was long overdue.i was wavin in the RVs to their parkin spots (if you drove an RV down, i probably waved you on at some point) and our meals never arrived in the morning.i felt like i was dieing.after people settled in,every passerby offered me water, cigarettes, beers, and great food.i even got a few hugs along the way.it ended up making my 13 hour shift in the dust and heat totally worth it because at that point i knew i was in for the time of my life.

Galactic late night.
Tons of people completely fried, some of the best acts in hip hop, Robert's bass solo, Charlie 2na's odd yet entertaining voice, getting smoked out for giving out water,.....

I have seen Galactic many times here in charlotte and they always blow me away and leave me sweaty...I havent seen em since they started w the hip-hop stuff tho
So many moments to choose from, it's hard to narrow it down. 07 was my first Roo (SO not my last!!) and there were so many new adventures in those 4 days. We had a hippy van set up camp beside us with a giant white tent. One night on our way back to camp, I walked past a couple "doing it" in the grass on the outside of their tent. Another night we were walking through centeroo and randomly made friends with a couple of guys REALLY tripping...we spent the night entertaining/being entertained by them, making shadow puppets and eating fruit cocktail. So funny...
I can't wait to get back!! We had our first real snowstorm today and I was thinking back to warm thoughts of the Roo!!!

my definitive Roo moment was definitely in '06, which was the first year i made it, at the phil lesh and friends show. it had been hotter than hell for the first 3 days, and being amateur bonnarooians (what do you call inhabitants of bonnaroo?) we brought nothing for shade. then that sunday night it opened in a holy downpour in which thousands of hippies, including myself were dancing to some awesome tunes...it was truly a sight to behold, and phil played a spectacular show...i was a little...out of my head, and at one point a helicopter flew right over us in the crowd...talking about this later with my friends, we agreed that the whole universe could have pretty much imploded at that very moment...everything felt so right and perfect it felt like it could really happen. one of the best shows ive ever seen...
much love to all of you-you guys are my favorite people in the world

last year was my first bonnaroo and i would have to say one of my most memorable moments happened before i even got in.... it was wednesday night and me and my posse had driven from sault ste marie ontario canada an astonishing 18 hours straight.... we were exhausted, lost, my friend got 500$ stolen from her wallet in Kentucky somewhere, we had been bitching at eachother about directions on getting to our hotel so we could sleep for 4 hours before getting up and waiting in line.... and for a second i almost ALMOST (almost but not quite) thought to myself, this isn't worth it..... and then out of nowhere someone behind us honked, drove up beside us and showed up their bonnaroo sign in their car window. They had seen our bumper sticker and we shared a moment. We all screamed and clapped and didn't feel so desperate. Thats when i knew i was in love.
