Yes, I don't think that you can make that assumption, that he will be reelected. But I was also talking about your comment of "since he is doing such a bang up job." I'm saying that is kind of unfair seeing that it hasn't even been 2 months. He still has over 3 1/2 years left to impress.
Reading your comment in a different context I understand where you are coming from. But I think it would help the economy. Not entirely, but to some extent. So far weed contributes to a high death rate in Mexico, funding to gangs in the u.s, and imprisonment... or severely screwing with your record.
Legalization would cut down on the problem with Mexico, the gang funding, and would free up the prisons a bit. The DEA has a problem with this... but if the government puts a tax on it, then that is bringing them a fair bit of money, not to mention creating a bunch of new jobs. Also if it is legalized, the DEA can spend their precious time on matters dealing with substances that are more severe.
That is my view at least. But I'm only 19, so whatever.

Now this just makes me sick. I mean I know it would probably amount to political suicide for him to come out for legalization at this point in time. The backlash from the other side would just be rediculous. I don't even expect tit to happen on a federal level in his 1 OR 2 terms in office. But damn, this is the #1 question that was voted on in this poll. Over 40% of Americans favor legalizing it for med purposes, not to mention the fact that med/decrim laws are already on the books in many states and cities. This isn't a quacking joke. At least answer it like the ligitimate issue that it is. Maybe say it's a states issue, or say we have bigger problems right now. One thing I like about Obama is that he can explain things to the American people like we're adults and talks pretty intelligently on most issues. So what's with this poop?

This made got me disappointed too...for people to snicker like they are in the 3rd grade and our president not taking the question seriously makes me think twice about voting for him or anybody that does not want to take this issue seriously. IT IS NOT A CRIME.
Also, in Nevada in 06 we had a vote up to legalize it, it got 44%, we are almost there
I'm the opposite of moderate, immaculately polished With the spirit of a hustler and the swagger of a college kid Allergic to the counterfeit, impartial to the politics Articulate but still would grab a ni**a by the colla quick
There are two medical marijuana bills floating around the capital in Illinois right now. They would only legalize for end stage cancer and AIDS patients, but it's a big step for my state.
The coolest thing about these bills is that they are supported by the Illinois Nurses Association. Hooray for nurses who want to see their patient's pain relieved!
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
The scary thing to me is what it is taking for it to become a reality. We have to repeat the economic crash of 1929 (which reversed prohibition 1) for this to become a viable option. The economic benefits of marijuana shouldn't be the primary reason for legalizing it. This is a recreational 'activity' that is less dangerous than the 'other' two primary legal recreational activities in the U.S. . Not to mention it is responsible for over 78% of the police and court systems time in NO NO WORD!!! related maters.......
EDIT: Just wanted to throw some research in to support #'s
" The Department of Health and Human Services says that there are 32 million drug abusers in the country, but that includes 25 million marijuana smokers."
