game playing aside right now...
i don't think this is fair. with all the other variables and unknowns, i think it should be standard we at least know how many there are, otherwise, there would be no way to strategize in the game.
not to mention we've always established how many mafia there are at the start of the game.
i dunno...maybe its just me
There have been instances in the game before when it was altered mid-game while I was reffing. It was always done with the players in mind and making sure the game stays interesting.
Its actually usually done to make sure the game is fair.

i just don't think its fair to not know exactly what you're shooting for. its the ONLY thing citizens know at the start of the game, so i don't see why it should be withheld as to how many mafia there are.
either way is cool, that's just how i think about it
i think maybe it should be a new rule that starts next game, the mafia can recruit one citizen after the first round or the second rnd. but they PM the goddess and the goddess PMs the citizen and asks if the citizen wants to be mafia, if not then the goddess says the citizen declined and you don't get a second chance. if the guess is the inspector, then the goddess still just says they declined.

^ yeah I know...I was talking about the game all of a sudden getting confusing, I am gone for ten minutes and now we are missing mafia and gaining mafia and all kinds of stuffs

Actually... this could work.
The game could start with 2 mafia.
If both mafia survive the first round or 2(tbd, we'll discuss) then the game remains. If a mafia is killed in like the 1st round, the mafia have the option to recruit a citizen w/ permission of the ref.

i just think we should know how many mafia there are period
if the mafia know everything to begin with, its easy for them to strategize. if citizens don't even know how MANY there are, then it kinda kills any chance the citizens may or may not have to strategize themselves
i dunno...just seems like it would make it too easy for mafia to win
i think it should be announced if there are new mafia. that's only fair. if there are three in this game that wouldn't be fair cause it would confuse everyone playing

yeah i like it that way! i think it could work. should the ref announce that one of the mafia died and has been replaced by a citizen? i think so...that way the citizens know and the mafia can still pick who they want to 'recruit'
Ok, to keep this thread on the topic of the game, lets discuss this maybe rule change before the next round, in the next thread.. I like the grace period idea..

Not necessarily...mafia CAN vote for each other though. The one time I actually *was* mafia we voted one of the mafia off so that we would remain less suspicious...hmm...
