i saw them perform together for a little bit in philly in november. they seem to play off each other very well. id be excited to see them perform a whole set together.
This is a thread I have been waiting for to pop up. This is the only thing that could make the roo lineup any better for my. If this happens roo 09 will be the best festival in the history of the earth hands down.
saw a bit of them at the nightwatchman show in boston a few months back - they pretty much killed it on the one song they did. told boots when he walked by me too
great night, actually. took my gf and we both had an excellent time...

^^^ Same at the NYC show, and I high fived Boots when he walked by me
Tom said their album was supposed to come out in the "Spring" and I knew right then in my heart I would see them at Roo... I really hope that premonition comes true!
....oh my god. they need to be added...oh my god. i didnt know they had their own side project i just thought it was just a previous collaboration. im so mad the coup was during pearl jams set last year and im also pissed i only saw the last 15 minutes of boots sonic tent. but i love the coup, this needs to happen
Yeah, I am still kicking my own ass for not going to Lolla last year. My top to fav bands are Radiohead and Rage and both were there. I have seen Radiohead twice but never had the chance for Rage. I do think that Roo missed them last year. They could have really changed the seen last years compared to the weaker lineup.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
Sorry - De La Rocha was a great frontman, and for RATM he was perfect, but he's a sub-average MC. I've heard a couple spots where he actually tries to rap, and it's horrific. He's good at the quasi-rap metal stuff, but he cannot MC.
Boots Riley, on the other hand, is a very good MC.
Admittedly. I agree with you. He's a frontman, not a MC.
The fact about Zach is he is def. a frontman. Rage is very political and very protest(y). It would be hard for Rage to be who they are without him. Some people on fit with one thing and they have to stick to it. Personally, it was hard for me to really fathom Tom Morrello as The Night Watchman, I just think of him and the power of his guitar so him with an acoustic and singing is odd to me.
I like it - it sounds like RATM if Zach actually had any MC'ing ability.
agreed. chris cornell is also a better singer than zach...that doesn't mean audioslave was the better band.
better doesn't always mean better
Chris Cornell WAS a better singer. The man's voice is shot now, and lets not get into the crappy music he's put out for the past 10 years
But yeah, I agree with what you're saying. Technically better doesn't mean they sound better. Dream Theatre is quite possibly the most talented band on earth (you could calibrate a metronome to their songs) but they still put out some of the most sterile and boring music there is.
