I hope there is not a thread already on this but oh well. I was wanting to see what kind of games all of the Rooers like to play while passing the time. I will update the first post with new games and you must detail rules (even if it is the most obvious game in the universe, there is someone that will not get it). I will seperate them by card games, frisbee games, drinking games, hacky sack games, sand bag games, photo games (how many mullets or how many wookies you can spot), horseshoes....you get the point and I mean any game they can be actually accomplished at roo and I want the crazy ones that people do at festivals. Hey it is something to waste time for the wait of Bonnaroo and you might get to learn a fun new game. Cant wait to hear your suggestions.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
Dude, you left out the most important category- Drinking Games. There were a couple threads about Beer Pong and flip-cup, i expect them to resurface once we get closer to the festival. Personally, I love just throwing a frisbee or a football around, letting whoever wants to join in. One of my traveling companions to the roo this year played quarterback in college and its always funny to see people's faces when he rockets a ball at them from thirty yards away.
when I went to ozzfest my buddy and I played some un-named game that we made up. I was to drunk to remember the rules so I dont know if this is much help. I thought I would just throw that out there. But in all seriousness I can see alot of frisbee and Hack going on.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
I think it had to do with how many beers can you chug before the next band comes on, but I think there were a few rules like there are in flip-cup. It was expensive but...well...not worth it either. I passed out during the one band I had been waiting to see.

I played this game called Catch Phrase last year... its the electronic version, where a popular name/ band/ book/tv show/ etc... pops up, and you cant say the word, but you have to describe it before the timer runs out (kind of like musical chairs)
So we used this sunday night after the music stopped, it was a blast
"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio." -Hunter S. Thompson
At Grateful Dead shows, we used to always get a pool going during set break...50 cents to enter and you had to guess what time they'd come back out for the second set. The official winning time was whenever we heard the first sound out of a guitar - cymbals or drumbeats didn't count.
It was a great way to meet everyone sitting nearby and the winner would usually walk away with $10-$15.

I'm confused... when does one have extra time to pass at Bonnaroo? I've never found any.

Exactly... my family (we have a very big one) does it every fourth of july... so I passed it on and for our senior day at my high school we did one at the beach but made sure we put copious amounts of baby oil on the mats first
Last year we bought a cheap set of those velcro balls and mitt-type things from walmart. The only time we played with it was when we were waiting for an hour at the 'tolls'.
This year we bought $30 worth of dollar store water guns. We intend to fill them up and give them our neighbors or randoms we meet and have a decent size water gun fight. Twister sounds fun - i'd like to see someone go for the world records and sew together like a hundred mats. That would be awesome...maybe naked twister would be better.

;D
I like that idea. I think I'm going to try it at the headliner shows. Except it would be if they would be on time or how much later.
We've been on this game for a while now. It's played at nearly every cookout we have. We've always called it sag nuts, but most places on the web call it hillbilly horseshoes. You can now buy sets, we made ours out of pvc pipes.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
we play mancala at camp. dont find alot of time at roo. but at other fests more so. games only take a couple of minutes. and for being an old ass game its tons of fun and has lots of strategery and the kids even play it with rocks and dirt (the way it was invented) so if you forget to bring it ya can still play it. you can buy a folding mancala set like the one pictured on wikipedia for about 5 bucks at walmart.

I guess Mad Libs aren't technically a game, but they're really fun, especially when you've had a bit to drink. If you haven't played since you were little, you can imagine how many more inappropriate words and phrases you know to fill in those blanks. Plus, all you need is a pack of mad libs and a pen, so they're easy to pack and carry. They're also good for the car ride. I went to Lollapalooza last year, about a thirteen hour ride from NJ, and we filled up a whole mad libs book on the way back. They're pretty cheap too, about three bucks for a book.
amberp we had the sticky mits and velcro balls from wall mart as well. We modified it however. We strapped the sticky mits to our pelvis and called the game "Sticky Crotch" Not sure what was funnier, throwing little balls at someones crotch, running around trying to catch with your pelvis or explaining to passers by the subtleties of the game that is Sticky Crotch.

I might have to steal your sticky crotch idea. Make a few extras for anyone that might want to play for a minute (great icebreaker to run up to someone and say "you wanna play some sticky crotch").

Oh Oh Oh... Wink!!!!! I bet no one knows what wink is... unless that is you're a UU... But we have to get a giant game of Wink going... look it up! its brilliant and might take me too long to explain
edit: So i wikied it : but their description is long and complicated... its really not that hard to figure out the basic premise of the game though >http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wink_(game)< ... the full link doesn't work for some reason so you have to copy and paste between the >< if you wanna see the page Its more fun in the mud too
mass feel free to steal sticky crotch. if you can talk somebody on the sideline into doing the play by play or taking bets it gets even more hilarious. I only ask that you write zoey on the mitts so that I get some credit. I dont want any residuals just credit maybe a photo on line would be good.

I still vote we need to get a giant game of wink going I would assume the roo is a UU mecca but apparently no one has heard of it... everyone i'm going with has played it so if worse comes to worse we will start our own game
