I can't deal with anymore snow. We got a few more inches up north last night and this morning. How was it for everyone else?
OMG the ICE! I kept waking up last night to ice hitting my windows then I woke up this morning to people on the roof trying to break up ice because our condo complex has serious ice damming issues then I went out to get some lunch and fell on my face getting out of my car... with my lunch, in my driveway. ugh. This cannot be over soon enough!
nope. i have family stuff and work to do. but at least the weather is better than it has been for you (i'm assuming you're going)... have fun and report back with how it went! i'm hoping all shops have a good turn out!

It's my dad's birthday so I also have family stuff but we'll see. It's way on the other side of town too.
Although some of it is silly. Like the beer one is just not true. Granted, it's true for me (I don't like beer, but I've grown accustomed to Bud Light).... but everyone else around me enjoys their craft beers with their IPA's and what not. The rest is pretty accurate.

Funny list, but only about half accurate, in my estimation. On cheap beer, I do likes me some genuine cheapies like PBR and even Genesee, but I refuse to drink Bud Light and prefer not to drink Budweiser (Yuengling is way better for the price). Of course I know a thing or two about good beer, having been a member of ratebeer.com for quite some time. Cincinnati chili is not chili. I don't know of any infighting between us good Clevelanders and our poor, backward friends from Cincitucky - Bengals and Reds fans are okay. But yes, we are raving lunatics when it comes to football, we often want to murder politicians, and we are friendly (mostly, unless you are a Wolverine or Steeler fan).

I found list this somewhat inaccurate at least applied to me.
1. I think Skyline Chili is horrible. 2. I don't associate myself with one of the Three "C's" But I am closer to Pittsburgh than any Ohio city. 3. People really confuse Ohio and Iowa? As a social studies teacher, I just find that very sad. 4. I don't use John Glenn and Neil Armstrong as a go to when bragging about my state. 5. I will never do the OHIO arm thing. I can't stand Ohio State football fans, even though 80 percent of my friends are. 6. And I drink cheap beer because I'm fucking broke, not because I reside in Ohio. Plus I've been to Cleveland and have been taken to multiple micro-brews, craft beer joints, they are pretty big up there.

Samsies.
Has anyone actually heard of someone confusing Ohio & Iowa? Because I've never had that happen, never heard of it happening, and don't see how it's even possible.
I hate the buckeyes... i'm a trojans fan for college.. for no other reason than because i have a couple family members who went there at some point.
Trojans, as in USC? AND Steelers? And you hate the Buckeyes? Yet you live in Ohio? I won't tell you how wrong that all is, but I'll say that you need a life coach.

Newbie from Ohio (temporarily living in Chicago for grad school). Hello, fellow Midwesterners! Hoping to move back to Columbus post-Roo. Originally from about 35 minutes southwest of Cleveland.

Lol. I get this reaction a lot.
*I was born in Ca, have family that went to USC. *Yes I live in Columbus. Growing up here had made me loathe the buckeyes. The people here are just too crazy about a school they didn't go to. Support them sure, but don't burn couches because they won/lost. *Everyone on my dad's side of the family are steelers fans so I grew up supporting them.

I reside in Columbus and am a huuuuuuge craft beer fan. This place literally has been taken over by craft beers. Everywhere you turn now you can buy a growler of good beer. To me, that's a positive attribute for any city, especially after a winter like this one.

I actually enjoy Cincinnati chili but I agree that a lot of the others are inaccurate. Iowa and Ohio? ok? I also reside in Columbus but can't stand the Buckeyes. It's thrown in my face every single day that OSU is in my town and that they can play sports and so I should love them. I went to OU, I'm a bobcat fan. I don't own a single article of red clothing. The one about cheap beer kind of pissed me off. It's just wrong. Though in college, I drank a lot of PBR and Natty, that's because I was poor. There are breweries everywhere and craft brew stores and craft growler filling stations everywhere and it's magnificent. I enjoy good beer and most of my Ohio friends do too.
So... who wants to meet up at Seventh Son or any other brew pub as soon as the sun shines again?

I'd be up for a meet-up somewhere like Seventh Son in Columbus prior to 'roo. And I think I've mentioned it before, but I'm also an Ohio U. grad. That written, I grew up in Lancaster so I root for Ohio State, even when they play the Bobcats. I know it's strange. ...

There's a reason for everything. Lol
Haha, no need to explain yourself, but it makes a little bit of sense now.
Buckeye "fans" can be a little over the top, with some of them just wanting an excuse to binge drink and be stupid rather than actually being football fans. But nothing tops the drunk Akron student I saw on the news a few years ago, preceding their annual May Day celebration/riot. A reporter conducting a serious interview was taken aback by the kid's plea to the local police to leave them alone, saying, "There ain't nothin' wrong with burnin' a few couches sometimes." Of course they do that down the road from me in Kent too, but not every year, and block party arrests have been down in recent years. Say what you will about Ohio, but nobody knows how to burn a couch in the street like us.

West Virginia University would like a word with you.

COlumbus is definitely rabid for the Bucks. I think it may be explained by the lack of major pro sports teams for sports fans to root for. Up here we have the Browns, Indians, Cavs, Bucks, and our local colleges (which no one cares all that much about). There they have the Buckeyes, Blue Jackets (hockey, meh.), and minor league baseball - which is fun to watch but no one gets carried away about it. So the fandom of OSU is amplified. That, or people in COlumbus are just crazy, which is also plausible.
Around Akron the ACME supermarket chain has started adding draft beer and selling growlers, which is nice. Their craft selection has really increased, too. And there are two great beer stores in Kent, both of which will even try to special order things they don't normally stock if you ask. Right now I'm really happy to see that New Belgium have started distributing in Ohio and are beginning to expand their lineup here. Mmm, Fat Tire and Ranger... can't wait to try their seasonals. I tried Fat Tire last year at Roo for the first time (due to Inforoo) and loved it.
