I'm sick of this Ohio weather. Need some Roo heat.
When it started snowing AGAIN yesterday it seriously made me want to cry.
first person who complains about it being too hot in the summer is getting punched in the face. I'm over the negative temps!!!!!! It's seriously depressing when 25-30 degrees feels warm.

I just want shorts and t-shirt weather.
And I haven't forgot that I need to try Skyline Chili again (we talked about it in another thread).
I'm actually going to Ohio for the first time ever this May... we're going to spend two days at Cedar Point and a day at King's Island (Mason). Gonna hit some roller coasters!

YES get on that skyline!
And on a positive note: ONE MORE MONTH TILL THE OFFICIAL START OF SPRING!! It makes me happy anyways. Lol

If you're looking to ride some roller coasters Cedar Point is the place to do it. It will take you 2 full days to ride all of them.

I think we're going to try to save and get flash passes for both days to try to not spend all of both days waiting in lines... if they aren't too expensive. Ever been to King's Island? Is it worth the trip? Also, do you happen to know any good record stores in either Sandusky or Mason? Thanks

I have some friends from the Cinci/Dayton area and they love Kings Island but that just could be because it's their local amusement park. People from all over the world come for Cedar Point. As far as record stores go, in not sure. I'm from the Cleveland area but if you drive from Kings Island to Cedar Point or vise versa you should stop in Dayton or Columbus depending on which way you go. Columbus has some record shops and I'm pretty sure Dayton does too. If you have a phone that's app capable download The Vinyl District which will give you a map of all the record stores around you.

Columbus has magnolia thunderpussy which is a pretty cool record shop. There are others but I haven't been to any of them.
Kings Island is cool, cedar point is better. But Kings Island is also more affordable so it just depends what you value more, cost or content.
If you're going to cedar point my favorite ride is either the raptor, mantis, or the wicked something or another (wicked twister maybe). I don't remember the name of it but you go up and twist up then go backwards and twist up the other direction. It's bright yellow and on the right when you walk in. I haven't been in hears. I had a panic attack on the Millenium force and didn't even think about riding the dragster. I don't do well with heights.

Thunderpussy is the one I've been to I think. In the Short North on High?
I think Wicked Twister is the one right next ton the beach. Millennium Force, Dragster, Maverick, Raptor, Mantis, Magnum, and The Blue Streak are all required rides.

Yup it's on high st right in the short north next to skullys. There's lots of really cool bars around there.

I am from southern Ohio so we never went to Cedar Point and I love King's Island! It is a very nice inexpensive day trip with lots of rides and some great local chains like LaRosa's and Skyline and Graeter's. As far as record stores near Mason, I'm unsure. There is a mall in that area with like an FYE equivalent. Though I've never been to Sandusky, I would assume you'd be more likely to find a nice record store in that area. Also, Dayton and Columbus both have a few great ones. Magnolia's in Columbus is great, as mentioned already, but so is Used Kids, Lost Weekend, and Ace in the Hole. There's a nice hip hop/soul/funk record store called Roots too! Hope you find something awesome in your travels!

The Raptor is one of my favorites but the Mean Streak is the best. Big, long wooden coaster that makes you feel it is either going to throw you out of the car or shake itself to pieces. Both are legitimate concerns. I haven't been there in a while but thinking about this now is making me wonder if I can find the time and money this spring. It's less than a two hour drive but my friends and family never seem to go anymore.
And as for the winter weather, what a bummer! Why do people actually live in NE Ohio? I've GOT to move to a warmer climate. TN, TX, CA, whatever, just warmer and not in hurricane territory.
Oh, and I think there is an Exchange store in Sandusky. They are a chain and not what I'd call "cool," but better than nothing and you can find some good stuff there sometimes.

The Mean Streak really throws you around. There is a new Roller Coaster called the Gate Keeper that sounds pretty cool.
I have no idea why I live here. Honestly.
I really like going to the Exchange. They release their new vinyl early too. I got the new Vampire Weekend and Arcade Fire the weekend before they came out. Plus the cheap movies and used vinyl.
Grrr, I don't know if it's because I'm at work or what, but I can never post correctly...can only do "Quick Reply".
Anyway, as far as record stores, there is nothing in Mason, it's very Bed Bath & Beyond. But Cincinnati has two incredible stores, Everybody's Records and Shake It. Everybody's would be more convenient since it's a quick trip down I-71. There is also Omega Music in Dayton.
I love roller coasters. We have the Cedar Fair platinum pass so we do KI a lot. It's a good park, the rides are great but not epic like at CP. My suggestion would be to do KI first, and then CP.
Ok. Here's an Ohio weather update: high of 30° & an expected 2-3 inches of snow with freezing rain tonight. High of 60° with thunder storms on Thursday. What. The. Fuck. Ohio!!??

Cedar Point one day then Kelly's Island or Put in Bay the next. Two days of Cedar Point seems like too much for me.

We're going to have some weird shit happen this summer. Tornados, hurricanes and at least one Biblicle plague.
Cedar Point is definitely the king of roller coasters, but Kings Island has several very good ones as well. Their new one this year is Banshee and looks great. Of course, the best at Kings Island is The Beast, it is still the longest wooden coaster and a great ride at night. Kings Island also has a water park attached as well and is included with your admission. I live in Mason and there are no record stores, but Shake It Records is in Northside about 30 minutes from KI. There is also Everybody's Records in Pleasant Ridge which is about 20 minutes away.
